I know for most of you it's afternoon, but here on the left coast, folks are just now climbing their lazy ***es out of bed to get the weekend started. The running joke around here is that SoCal doesn't "open" until after 10am. Especially on the weekends. Anyway, what better way to start the weekend than a good old fashioned cardio workout. If this video doesn't get your blood pumping, you're on the wrong forum! Enjoy, ya filthy animals!!!
I got out of bed at 10am this morning. But after watching these nite scenes, I got sleepy and had to nap. And, it's only 11am...

Hello, Well, it depends on how your lifestyle has been going on for years. Yes, our son would get up on Saturdays/Sundays, come out to where my wife and I were sitting around outside and say, when is breakfast? Breakfast, it is 11:45 am and almost time for lunch. So, he plodded into the kitchen to eat something he created for himself. We just looked at each other and had a big chuckle. We had been up since 6 am and as usual, did several jobs in the yard or garage. If the surf was running, I would be stepping back into the house around 9 am for a nice nap. The weekends are for activity. As 20-30 somethings, Saturday mornings started off with a nice walk down the sandy beach if I was not surfing. It gave both of us a new look at the day and it always made us smile. Our tiny 700 sq.ft. apartment was nice, but nothing like the outside wide open spaces with an ocean breeze and sun to warm our bodies. At the time, we had several choices, get on our Harley Sportster for a 35 minute ride to the Balboa Pier and our favorite outdoor diner, or a longer ride past the craziness of Huntington Beach on to the cool cliff top viewing area of the Dana Point Headlands. Why Dana Point Headlands? Well, it was the last of the clean, cool, almost hidden surf spots prior to the destruction of the cove and made into a small boat harbor in 1971. It was enjoyable to see the waves crashing in their peaks rolling toward the tall rocky cliff side areas. This time period, Dana Point was a sleepy little village with only one road leading farther South to more waves and cool surf spots. It was usually around 9:00 am and very few folks were out and about. We relaxed for a while and if the situation played out, took a short nap to rest, for the long ride back up the coast to our tiny apartment. Today, there is a lot of history about the Dana Point Headlands, with surf spots on the Western side, while there used to be some cl***ic lines and peaks on the Southern side of the Headlands. This photo was taken during our pandemic road trip with zero people at the viewing site. But, back during our Harley days, it only had a steep winding road that led down to the surf spots below on the point and down the rocky cliff side shoreline. All this activity done before lunch time. As creative as we could be, no technology to spur us on for some good memories and activity. If it was misty or not Harley weather, it was an Red 327 powered 40 Ford Sedan Delivery for our drive down the coast to the same itinerary for breakfast or lunch. Within a couple of years, a rocky outside breakwater was plopped down from the cl***ic point wave spot. Then within a few more weeks, several more inside rocky breakwater berms created the inside island, etc. Gone were the ultimate: Killer Dana Surf Spot and several of the inside reefs that had great peaks and long lines for some great down the line surfing. One spot was located right at the current overhead bridge. A sad couple of years indeed.
