^^^^ We finally get to the important part of this parts swapping. I did the math for a 305 bore and stroke. IF in reality the displacement is 305, the bore is near 3.734". With sbc traditional valve spacing, that limits intake dia. to around 1 7/8". In bygone days ,after the 327 was offered, people wanted to use these on 283s. You could get domed pistons to allow for the larger combustion chambers; most people bored the 3.875 dia to at least 3.937 to clear the 1.94 dia. intakes in the 327 heads.
My point: accessory mounting bolt holes is the least important consideration.

Yep, last year for the true camel hump heads, these are NOS "291" heads on my 327.

Nothing will kill the buzz for a true "traditional" looking small block Chevy engine than accessory bolt heads!

Can you "relieve" the bore where the intake valve won't hit the cylinder walls? (my lose CR but that can be made up with milling/pistons!)
    Jusr a WAG....

There is nothing, unless something is damaged, wrong with your current heads. They will work fine.

What is it you would hope to get out of a different set of heads?

If this is for a street-going vehicle, and the intent is to use it on a regular basis, gaining 10, 20, or even 40-horsepower just equates into using more fuel.

You might not notice the 0.6-second decrease in 0-60 time, or the 0.75-second reduction in quarter-mile time, but you will notice the number of times you are at the gas station.

Will the return justify the initial and ongoing expenses?

Yes, I agree ; I should have said that sacrificing a traditional engine or cylinder heads for accessory mounting is sub- optimal. One of the traditional build concepts was and I think should remain, is performance. Of course, there are different categories of performance .

Before the last of the earlier heads were being cast, GM had substantially better flowing heads on the drawing table.
    Long live the 327!

I had an 82 Camaro Z28 4 speed car. 305 cu engine was terrible. I wouldn't recommend anyone putting any time or money into one. Start with a better block.

Nobody is listening to this poor guy except Mad Mikey. World products makes a decent iron head. Just choose runner volume, chamber volume, valve size and Jegs or Summit ships them right to your door cheaper than rebuilding an old set of heads. Been running them for years. Great heads!

I think the discussion has turned into something that the OP doesn’t really need anymore, the 305 is off the table for him, then he was going to go with the 350, but wait time was too long. So now (as I recall) he was asking about 64CC heads that had accessory bolt holes.
This isn’t directed at your helpful reply, just to those that don’t actually read others replies;)
