  7. Pro street had not happened yet. :D

  8. Actually most states have really lightened up on the tires sticking out deal. When I was in high school in the late '60s Oregon had a fender law. They either ignored you or they didn't. One of the older guys in town had a Starliner that was jack up enough to clear the tires. He captured a pair of those old Firestone dirt track tires mounted on steelies. Got a ticket and was told loose the tires or cover them. He rounded up a piece of corrugated steel culvert, split it and hung just enough over the wheels to cover the tops of the tires.

Actually I am still building cars, so if I guess I cannot hang the tires or post my build. Correct? OK I am just pushin your leg I know what you meant. ;)

That Crosley I posted was originally built between 48 and 52. The rear I hung under it was actually narrower than the one that was under it.

@swade41 great looking J I have watched your build. I don't think I'll have any trouble with the law just don't know. You bought the gl*** nose and doors from my friend here in NW Indiana. I hope to have mine going in a couple months. Just need some warmer weather.

From IG @thehotrodlibrary - definitely shows love for the hot rods with rear tires hanging out the fenders.

A couple repeats. That black roadster gets me excited about my own coupe.

Mikey this one could be a Kansas car. They guys one generation before me here in the mid-west they used to say "if you only got two hot rod wheels they should be on the back." :D (I know its Canadian BTW)

    @-Brent-

This needs to loose the tow bar get a radiator and be racing around the streets. It has that gritty street brawler look that I was (is?) what I have always been trying to hit.

Best saying EVER! I love that!

My favorite hot rod book, Hot Rods & Customs of the 1960s by Andy Southard, Jr. (which coincidentally has a nasty A roadster with the rears hanging out) has a blurb somewhere about mixed wheels or trying out styles or something of that sort.

The idea always stuck with me because these days we get caught up in everything matched, symmetrical, etc. but there was really that sentiment you mention that hot rod wheels go on the back, first.
