On the show card for the 55 T bird it says the owners are Sam Hollingsworth and wife. Is that the same Sam Hollingsworth that had the gorgeous 57 Nomad on the cover of R&C so many years ago? I lusted after that car for a long time. Come to think of it, I still do.. if my aging memory is correct, a clone was done some years ago too.

Oh No! My desktop computer died! Everything is on that computer, including all my photos from this show. I have backups from a couple of weeks ago, but that doen't include this show. Aaaarrrgggggghhhh!

I'm going to have to either get that computer back up long enough to back up all the new data, and if that doesn't work I'll have to pull the hard drive and attempt to retrive the data using a hard drive to usb adapter, like the one from FIDECO. If anyone has gone through this and has experience please give me your advice on recovery, thanks.

Anyway, no more updates here until I get things back up. Bummer.

Sorry to hear that! (At least your GNRS photos are stored in this thread.)

I hope you still have the photos on the card in the camera.

As long as the hard drive itself is not what died you should be able to get the data off of it. The docking units that take an internal hard drive and make it function like an external drive that would plug in using USB work well. As long as the one you buy is compatible with whatever type hard drive you have it should work fine. You can even use them to copy the entire operating system and all to a new computer.

Yes, I've had that happen. It's not fun. Not sure what sort of camera you use but doesn't it have a memory card that the original images are stored on? Hoping you left them where they were and just transferred COPIES to your desktop rather than moving the image files?
If not, you'll probably get better advice from others with more experience but I was able to recover most of what I lost thanks to Seagate recovery. Now, I'm a bit more proactive. I save COPIES of the image files to an external hard drive as well as to a thumb drive. I leave the originals on the memory card and when the card is full it's archived and I start a fresh one. If you have an online gallery (mine is Smugmug) that's another way to backup images. If you don't want them published online you can usually set up a private gallery. I figure at least two backup locations besides the original memory card from the camera. But then, I've lost memory cards too so, there's that....
Best of luck with the recovery efforts. And THANKS for posting your pics.

I've always cut the photos from the memory card and pasted them to the computer hard drive, to keep from filling the card. Lesson learned, I'll be following your method from here on out.

I'm back baby! New computer w/ Windows 11, improved performance vs old computer by leaps and bounds; faster processor, more ram, even ss hard drive; all files from old hard drive successfully transfered to new computer. I've installed new photo processing app, that's taking a little time to get used to, I was so familiar with the old one, but once I get familiarized with this new one there is so much more I can do with it. Trying not to go over board processing these photos, bear with me if a few look a little wonky, I'll get there. By the time I finish up this thread I should be pretty familiar with it.

Alright, lets get back to photos, I ended up before with the 2023 AMBR winner. Here's a contender:

Another contender. This is the one that I think was the favorite around here. I originally thought the panel striping was too much, too stark, but Viewing the car in person I have to say it really is a great car.

It really is, there was definitely a bit of anxiety when the old computer crashed. I knew it was on it's last legs, but I didn't expect it to die like it did. Lesson learned, I'm now looking into online back ups.

It's a really great car, the stark pin striping still doesn't sit well with me, but overall it is a winner for sure.

I really liked this little T track roadster, I would've been upset at all if it had won the trphy. Feast your eyes on this little beauty.

The last of the AMBR contenders, for now. This one wasn't in my top 3, but it was pretty cool nonetheless. DSC_7234.JPG DSC_7236.JPG DSC_7239.JPG DSC_7241.JPG
