I always enjoy your posts and your ice cream reviews. I don't eat the stuff very often but when I do it is Ben & Jerry's Heathbar coffee crunch. I had that about 25 years ago and it left a good impression.

More on the speedometer odometer saga:
    IMG_7892.JPG
These are the three speedometers I had to work with. The one on the left was purchased via some help from fellow HAMBers and had been modified to include turn signal indicators as well as a high beam light. The center speedometer came in the car originally and the trip odometer worked but the odometer randomly rotated all five numbers while going down the road! The one on the right was purchased for me at the fall Charlotte swap meet and included the housing, gl***, plastic faceplate, and the other original gauges.
I figured this would be simple:rolleyes: so I just replaced the original speedometer with the one on the left and tested it on the road and it didn't work!!:D
Time for a more careful ****ysis as removing the old gauge panel and then replacing the speedometer and reinstalling the whole works was quite a job for a 73 year old!!
In the process of checking out the speedometer on the right, I realized that the normal drive cable would not turn when inserted in the back! Dang, that won't be any help.
So, I started taking things apart:eek: and trying to figure it out.

I took the odometer out of the third speedometer and cleaned it up and used it to replace the odometer in the original speedometer that came in the car.;)

This time I tested it and the tripometer and the odometer both seemed to work correctly.:)
Then I got the bright idea to see if I could replace just the speedometer without removing the whole gauge cluster.;)
I somewhat doubted that it would be possible but decided to try. It was tricky and took awhile but I did manage to do it.
IMG_7895.JPG Here's the gauge panel with the speedometer missing... yeah, I heard 'ol Larry's spirit asking for pictures!;):D

Here's the gauge panel before we left on the test drive.

Note that the odometer has increased!!:):)
Now to celebrate... after buying some gas!!;):D

    Y'all already knew where I was going!:D

Yep, had some more of that Almond Joy special!!:D:D
BTW, I took home some Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream for the Madam.;):)
Thanks for the continued interest and help,
    Happy Al

Al, ice cream was the main culprit in my having to lose 60 pounds recently. (If I’m honest, maybe beer too)
Be careful… moderation will keep the Dr away.
    Car looks great!

^^ Bill, I went to the ice cream parlor today to pickup some subs for lunch and, lo and behold!; there stood Tom T from Williamsburg!! He and his wife and some friends likely took that same ferry ride over to visit.;)

Sorry I missed that. I met Tom T at Jalopyrama in 2019. Have been watching his build threads.
