I've never liked the numbers game for cars. For a while, a lot of modern cars had them.

But I don't like modern cars. I like Impalas and Imperials, Suburbans and Savoys, Crestliners and Catalinas, Buicks and Bonnevilles, Custom Royals and Country Sedans, Supers and Specials, well, you get the picture.

So how did I end up with a 210? Wasn't there a Datsun B210 at some point? Uuugh.

I'm talking about Chevys from '53 - '57. Top of the line gets a nice name. Bel Air. Say it. It rolls off the tongue so nice. BEL AIR.

Prior to '53, Chevy had the Styleline, the Fleetline, the DeLuxe and the Bel Air. Then along comes an updated new body for '53 and '54 and Chevrolet goes with 150 and 210? Of course the kept the Bel Air, but what gives?

Why did Chevrolet drop the names in those 5 years and go with numbers. At least they didn't make a chrome emblem to bolt on the quarter panel. Real car names returned to the Chevrolet line up in '58, thankfully.

Here's my '54 210 when I got it in 1980, wearing Bermuda Green and India Ivory. And then when I got it on the road in 2009, wearing Roman Red and India Ivory.

Let's see your 210's both kustoms and hot rods.

Well please, count me in. Someday I'll get a camera.
    The #1 spot in my 2 car garage is a 210 '57.
It is sort of ( in appearance ) a clone of the one I drove in HS.

SAM_0222.JPG I've owned four '55 210s since '63. All have been Delray's. The white one was originally Harvest Gold/India Ivory. My current '55 is mostly original paint same colors as my G***er was from the factory. 55chevygasser006.jpg

It has something to do with body series being 2100, or that is just coincidence. Which in that case please forget I said anything

Exactly, they all had series numbers including the 2400 that everyone clings to.

Station wagon bumper, I guess to cover the holes in the trunk lid required telling people what year it was too, hey I was 17!
