Was driving through LA about a week ago and my hood decided it was about time for a change of professions. It was tired of being a lazy old engine cover, and decided to pursue its dream of becoming a p***enger airliner. I watched in amazement as my latch snapped and my hood gracefully took flight into the skies, before giving up on its dreams of flight and slamming into the asphault a few hundred feet behind me.

It has been pancaked beyond recognition, and the big question is will any 52-54 customline/mainline hood fit? I drive a 54 ranch wagon and I've heard a ton of stuff about the front end differences but couldn't find anything concrete about the hood fitment. Just want to make sure before I drag myself 500 miles north to grab a new hood. I have access to a 52 hood and a 53 hood, any info would be appreciated!

Yes, '52-'54 hoods are the same although there may be some differences in the locations of the holes for the hood ornament. I am also in SoCal and I "gave away" a perfect hood a few months ago for $150.00 just to get it out of my way. Too bad your timing was a little off!

Perfect! That's all I needed to hear! Making a hoodless trip to modesto this weekend and hopefully returning with a 52 or 53 hood from a buddy of a buddy.

Bummer about the hood ornament holes, but luckily I have a drill ;)
