Well, I thought I had a pretty good deal on some old, Bell I think, lowered uprights. Come time to do some re***embly and I find that the upper eye in the upright is much larger in inside diameter than the originals and so the upper control arm pivot pin is way too small in O D. Only thing I can figure is that maybe the uorights are really for a 55-56. Is the pivot pivot pin for the '55'56 the one with the larger diameter and other wise would fit the 1950 shock lever/contro arm? Then I could just get those pivot pins. Should I forget about it and just get the Fatman uprights? Then I could at least use the lowered steering arms I got with the Bell uprights instead of having to torch and bend a set of stockers. JUst checked and the stock '50 and the lowereds both have the same part or casting number GM RO 10. Thanks for any help.
That actually helps quite a bit. The 1950 inside diameter of the upper "eye" or opening in the upright is .930" whereas the i.d. on the lowered uprights is 1.185". Just looking at the pic, it appears that the upper on you spindle is over 1 inch. Can you confirm? The '50 also uses the same offset thread thingy to set the camber, it's just that it apparently a smaller diameter than the '55-'56. Figure it would be good to know what I have before selling them.
