Event Coverage Detroit Autorama 2023

Yeah, nasty freezing rain right now. But it's gonna be 52* tomorrow, (Thursday) and that'll dry it up for the weekend.

 

I'll be in the basement with a bare metal 32 five window. Come say hi!

 

Massive power outages all over the area. I got a tree-pocolypse out there, still on a generator since 8:30pm when we got a transformer/wire/fire last night. Oh well, firewood...

 

Every year I say I'm driving the shoebox there. Every year I don't..... Lol. One of these shows I'll do it!

I would've been sidelined by weather this year anyway. My entire county is destroyed from the storm. Power out everywhere. Loving my generac right now. These pics are just the block where I work. Entire city looks like that.

 

Wow...that is tough. Reminds me of what happened right before the first Gathering at the Roc in Oklahoma. We didn’t have power for about a week because of a similar ice storm and my car was stuck up on the lift. I had to borrow a generator to run the lift so I could get my car down to make the show. Hoping they can get power back on for you all soon.

 

Everyone in town without power, other than my work office, lol. DAMNIT.

Snow sucks, Ice sucks even more.

 

It is quite pretty yeah! Sounds crazy too. Whole world sounds like a crystal wind chime.

I actually don't think Detroit got hit like we did. Not sure, anyone in d town can weigh in? And roads aren't icy at all, just trees and stuff. Tons of trees and power lines down in my town tho

Edit:just received proof of a higher power. Boss said may as well go home, and my bartender called and said they're open with candles and need an acoustic guitar player to entertain the drunks. I'm out! Lol.....

 

Looks like Sunday for me. I prefer Friday at noon when everything is laid out fresh, before the hoards are unleashed- straight to the basement. I have the camera charged up, hoping for the best. They say load out is pretty wild, I will have to check the tunnel bus schedule.

 

Where are you In MIchigan? I'm in the Flint area and we got ice, snow and more ice.

I live in Brooklyn, work in Jackson. Both hit really hard. My estimate for return of power is March 4th.

 

Hopefully there’s no rats in the basement this year.

 

My sump pumps are running every 3min due to the massive rain Wed. I'm stuck at home monitoring generator fuel level. I get alerts every day "...will be restored [today]..." and it keeps changing 1 day at a time. Going to lose a nice travel job for Sat too. If Jupiter and Venus stay aligned I might make Sunday. I'm not a pessimist but I'm not holding my breath.

 

Looks like all the cameras got iced up too…maybe we will see some pics on Saturday.

Always good to see folks I haven’t seen in awhile…buy some Hop Up shit and stare at some cars

 

Was very happy to see this car…haven’t seen it in many years…was owned by and built by a Detroit Poor Boy many years ago..Won best of show at the First Sins of Steel..was a DD for a while…loved pulling up to the Body Shop and seeing it parked in Buff primer while it was being worked on…apparently the new owner passed and his son has kept the car going…

 

The A Bros Display was amazing…great to see Dave’s 57..I miss seeing him around and his emails I’d get out of the blue…and man the A Bros interiors…just the coolest. This along with seeing my goof friends Olds were the highlights for me..A Bros…legit Detroit Automotive Royalty…

 

Some Ed Roth and Barris stuff..miss seeing these guys at these types of shows…George with his silk jacket, dress pants, and big glasses,
Ed set up with his easel painting shirts..larger than life..
