Vintage old… thing?

Not sure what this is, found under hood of a 64 imperial LeBaron, I’m thinking either external electric fan or siren? Have to drill it out as the tiny bolt is stripped.

 

Looks like the letter "A" in the grille, may be the first letter in the makers name.

 

Gotta be a horn, siren or something? A fan maybe? Tho that would be odd. Boats have blowers to blow fumes out so they don't build up and explode. Never heard of one on a car tho.

X2 ..Siren.. Looks just like mine.. Probably 6volt... But it'll really wail on 12v !

 

Yeah. looks like an old Federal Signal brand siren. Like caseywheels said, those things scream wired 12v.

 

On most any domestic vehicle built around 1955 or later it should be 12 volts.

 

Its a siren, Lowriders love em.

 

Found several just like it on eBay, yours is mounted up side down. Bob
