All - I know very little about o ringed blocks other than it sounds like old tech for boosted engines. The block I have is o ringed so using copper head gaskets at recommendation of local machine shop. My question is the upper holes for the water jackets are small relative to the opening in the block and the head. I have seen BBC gaskets with no water jacket holes so not sure how many varieties of water jacket config there are. Its a Gen IV block with rectangular port heads. Any education would be appreciated.

stock gaskets are like that. They force most of the water to the back of the engine, then up through the large holes.
