Sounds like an awesome idea. I know I could have used it the last two or three cars I sold. Will this be for finished cars only or will there be a section for projects?
Sounds like its not the first rodeo so to speak for those on board with this project. My guess is the devil is in the details. If/when it all comes together it should be an asset to traditional hot rods. Looking forward to updates.
I just sold one, through the HAMB classifieds. Oh well. Sounds like a great idea! I've often thought that sites like Bring a Trailer do not focus on cars I care about, so there is definitely room for this service to the trad rod and custom crowd. Maybe it could be called "Bring-A-Toolbox"..
Gonna focus on mostly finished pre-65 hot rods, customs, and stock cars initially... But yeah, I can see an auction for something like a set of Ardun heads in the future... Things like that. I want to get launched and see if this is something we really need before I spread the wings too much. We are gonna launch in BETA as a test of sorts. I've spent most of the last two months focused entirely on security. I'm not screwing around here as to bid, you have to first enter your credit card information first. So... all the details and the devil? Spent mostly on privacy at this point. Look, feel and functionality will probably change here and there as the BETA plays out.
Will this be a part of the HAMB or will it be a separate stand alone site? Still photos only or will it accept videos? Sounds like a good idea, especially the emphasis on security.
Sounds like you have given this a lot of thought and spent the time making sure everything will be secure, I believe it will be a contender in the auction world! HRP
enter our credit card info to bid only? will we be able to watch the auction without entering that info? will the seller be able to offer different payment options?
Interesting idea. I am a Bring a Trailer fan boy, watching it regularly. While there are plenty of very cool off topic cars on there that do well it seems hot rods/customs don't fare as well. Good luck with this, I look forward to it.
Yes. No dead beat bidding at all. Anyone can watch the auctions... Credit cards have to be submitted by bidders only. Once the auction is over, the site connects the buyers and sellers and they complete the transaction personally using whatever method of payment agreed upon.
Raw thoughts; Interests of your targets varies a little in all four directions. Will it welcome, say a 63 Galaxy, 409 Chevys, Max Wedges? Obviously vintage drag cars, yes? 65 and older trucks in "our" style? The jewel of these pursuits is so multifaceted I sense the work needed to hone in. A parts dept will be quite exciting. Too often good stuff doesn't get out due to lack of general attention or popularity, but then again I've seen "our" world amp up a bit as of late so perfect timing. Like I said, raw thoughts. Just nicer than Webby...
"I think he's onto something here", the neat part is the fairly narrow focus you are proposing, just what we are all about, and the parts section should be real popular. At one time the BAT site was pretty neat to just browse when they approved the sort of cars that actually needed trailer assistance, then they kind of whored it out. Ferrari engine coffee tables, eight piece high end logo leather trunk luggage, yuck! Ryan, cool of you to be making security the first order of businees.
We voting on names yet.......cause I have a few. HamBay (someone beat me to it) Bring your wallet Jalopy Auctions (stylized JA) GoldChain Sell My Heap BTW, it's a GREAT idea.
