8BA Ford Flathead + gnd starter, - gnd alternator. Can this work?

  1. First off, yea I switched to 12V. Not for reliability or anything, just that I have a pile of old single wire Delcos but nothing for 6V and no money to buy stuff. Believe me I'd LOVE to hear that lazy 6V growl from the starter and I intend to do 6V but for now I must plow with the mules I've got.

I made an adapter bracket and mounted my Delco. It came out really nice as far as belt alignment. Then I realized, this alternator is negative ground and my starter is positive ground. I've been reading up on it and it seems like it can work, but I'm not sure how to wire everything. Wire the starter up as neg ground and that's it? There's lots of people saying things about polarity and "blonde starters"(??) but what exactly do you do?

The starter won't know the difference. you'll need to reverse the in and out for the amp gauge, use the bosch blue coil without a resister, or the proper ballast resister for the 12v coil you have, and of co**** light bulbs.
