Is the dirt on the out side of the glass (I hope)? I'm thinking it is, because those gauges are pretty well sealed. Good luck with it...a working temp is a great find. I could never understand why you see so may amps & oil pressure gauges & so few temps. Is the speedo a Delco Appliance unit from a '32 Ford?

No it’s not Delco NE it’s Stewart Warner 32 Ford but no script on the dial. Dirt is on the outside, haven’t had a chance to test the temp gauge yet because I just picked the dash from him today, capillary tube in intact though. As you can see from the picture of his car he’s running a Delco alternator so I told him the amp meter wasn’t going to be of much use. I saw TJ had a 60 amp unit in one of his posts if we can find one of those maybe we could run it shunted.

I picked up the little GEM from fleetside66 and with some checking around I'm told it's 125ohm empty and 10 ohm full rated gauge. Does anyone have any info on the SW gauge? Looking high and low for a sender that's compatible. The closest I have found is Toyota FJ40 from the 70s with 135ohm empty and 10-17 ohm full. Been reading about the "TANKS" meter match device for mis matched gauges/senders. thumbnail - 2023-02-07T211710.270.jpg thumbnail - 2023-02-07T211715.122.jpg

  6. That's a nice gauge! I believe it's for a 1934 Hupmobile.

I went to the Dolphin website, and they do not show the fuel sender converter... that raises a red flag to me as why there is only one company I can find online sells the Dolphin converter. Both Ebay and Amazon are the same seller.

  10. I have a converter on my '41 p/u since it has a S/W sending unit and stock gauge.....works great so far.

  11. @1oldtimer , you were able to connect a S/W in tank fuel sender and the original Ford instrument cluster gas gauge?

"Tanks" has a converter called meter match that I'm serious about trying.

I never liked the colored volt gauges. Found a black face volt meter on *bay

  14. Yes, it had a S/W stage 3 fuel gauge in it and now has an NOS Ford gauge. It has a function to set it up if you know the ohm readings for both the sender and gauge. Main reason I went with the Autometer one over the Tanks one is "Configurable option with linear adjustments at 5 points (F, ¾, ½, ¼, & E)". You can dial it in to hit the marks on your gauge, it will go through after you set the ohm readings for both (gauge and sender).

  15. The NOS dash gauge is originally for a 1941 Ford pickup?

    Hi all,
I have a new project in the works to add to the gauges I plan on releasing sometime soon. does anyone have interest in new Auburn panels, that are exact replicas? My initial production run will be in a few months once all details are completed. JTSC0163.JPG

  22. Any advice on getting the right side guage face repainted, replaced or covered with a sticker to look similar to original?

The paint is badly pealing off, it looks like exposure to moisture.

  23. We had some "faces" made at the sign shop we used. If I remember right, they took a picture of the original, tuned it up with their software, and printed new stickers that we put over the originals.

I had this temperature gauge rebuilt about 25 years ago and it worked fine until I took the car apart a couple of years ago for painting. Although I handled the gauge and connecting line very carefully during the disassembly and reassembly process, it now almost always registers “very hot”. Sometimes it seems accurate but most of the time it is not. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what might have happened to it and if there is any easy fix, short of having it rebuilt again. I now have an electric temp gauge on the other head (flathead) which is accurate. Thank you for any ideas. HFH. E30840F8-9AB7-4CE9-936B-E4C7E099FC13.jpeg

Its tough to say. A temp gauge is internally the same as a pressure gauge except it has contained gas that expands at different temperatures, unless your capillary bulb is crushed reducing volume in the line your, readings should be accurate. a loss of gas would not push the pointer into the over temp. maybe a bug could of got into the light hole and knocked the pointer gear off its teeth?

Thank you for your thoughts. I did have the gauge in a protective place while the car was being painted but maybe something did get inside. Maybe I will take it apart this winter. Thanks again, HFH.
