Technical Merc fender skirts dumb question

1949 - 50 mercury factory style fender skirts: is there a left and right side? Photos almost look like either side is the same.

 

Yes. A guy showed up at a major custom event a couple years ago. He had them on the wrong sides of the car. @54delray noticed it.

 

I'm surprised they fit. He must have been in a real hurry.

 

How could I tell the difference?

 

Skirt fronts have a concave curve and the backs have a convex curve

 

The ones above are 51 skirts, 49-50 skirts are a much different shape. The 49-50 ones have no concave or flat sides. A lot of builders seem to use the 51 skirts on all 3 years.

 

Thanks guys. I’m an asking cuz a guy on the bay was selling two left sides, looked like they were from the same car .

 

They are different side to side, they kinda look symmetrical from the right angle but one end is more vertical and one has more angle, also the hooks on the inside corners are shaped differently end to end.
