The windshield posts and frame that I got with my freshly acquired BV roadster are chopped 3”. I’m still in the trial and fit stage with the Wise Guys seat, and it looks like to get my tall *** where it needs to be in relation to the steering wheel, I may need a 2” chop.
I have top irons, but they are for 2” chop.

Speedway has a sale in 2” chop frame and posts right now.
Is there a quality difference between theirs and Brookville?
    Are they the same mfg.?

OR. Does anyone have the 2” pieces to swap for the 3”? If so, PM me.

    Thanks!

I’ve never had any issues with UP (speedway) pieces and at that price I’d suggest you snag them. Quick peak around at other suppliers and you’ll see much higher prices for S/S stanchions. If you don’t like them for some reason, pretty sure you’ll be able to recoup your investment.

Thanks! Vintique probably makes both, or does BV make their own?

You always could contact Brookville and ask.

so Speedway is Mr. Roadster in name only, aka Chicom Charlie
Looks like the only post mfg. are Vintique and Speedy Bill. One has R&L mirrors, other has L.
Best frame is a Trautwein, apparently.
    Prices are all over.
    Calling BV tomorrow.

I'm thinking that it is on the line of what you get from Speedway as to where it came from. They are well known for taking someone else's design and having it cloned over there though. Still if they didn't buy up some of the companies that they have and keep producing at least their main items it's quite likelywe wouldn't have those pices produced at all.

  8. If it is speedway branded the pedigree is iffy. If they are selling a name brand part that is what you are going to get. Before bill checked out even brand name stuff was questionable, but they have really cleaned up their act since then.

    Hope that helps

  9. Vintique is just as sketchy as Speedy Bill. It is not like they have a factory in Socal. Chad crossed me ONE time. Never again

Give Ray at Roadster Supply a call, he sells a good quality windshield frame and related parts.

I'll second the vote for Roadster Supply. Excellent quality and service. This is my go to source for quality parts.

Yeah, Speedway's house brand stuff is made on China, just like Jeg's and Summit. If that's what you want your money to support, then I guess it's yours to spend that way.....

Sometimes, overseas is all you can get. There's nothing wrong with a Chinese product made to a quality standard and priced accordingly. There's plenty wrong with a Chinese product made to a preset price point with corresponding quality. The trick is to find the difference. And of course, there's always been **** made in the USA,too and even more so nowadays. :(

A sad and cautionary tale. I've always prefer to shop local or small. No doubt that Speedway continues to overrun small compe***ors. While not ideal, though, you can pretty much count on Speedway to answer the phones and email, have what they say the have in stock, ship in a timely manner at a decent rate and do it for a pretty decent price. Sadly, the HAMB is full of threads addressing small businesses with failures to do one or all of those practices. Speedway is often your best, or only, option to get what you want within your lifetime.

So.....has anybody bought windshield and posts from Speedway? Brookville? Trautwein?

will trade..... 3” chopped 32 posts and plain w/s frame for same in 2”. Or pay up for chrome frame.

Trautwein is definitely the way to go on the frame. I’m in the same boat as you…’have a 3” chopped windshield, wish it was 2”. Good luck.
