Bought a nice used right-side Navarro Head for a 49-53 Flathead Flathead. Possible to find the left side or is this just a neat piece of wall art? New one's are $750. each and not the right look. MantuaJohn

I am in the same position. I have a left hand side Edmunds 8BA head. I have been looking for a right side head for the last two years with no luck.:( I think they made a lot more Edmunds heads than Navarro's, so I think you're in for a long quest. If you're like me, you'll finally find one, but it will be for the same side that you already have. Get your wall space ready; mine is already up there.

Years ago, I came into the possession of one new Edelbrock 8BA head. After years of searching, I gave up and placed a "For Sale or Wanted" ad in Hemmings. I ended up selling it and even made a few bucks. Good luck.

That's how I ended up with a pair of Clark headers for early Chevy sixes. Found the front header at one swap meet, and the rear at another a few months later.

I've always wanted to run 2 different heads.

I remember a 40 pick up that ran painted wheels and caps on one side and Halibrands on the other, looked like two different trucks. So why not heads?

It's the cylinder head version of that single shoe you see lying along the road.

That 2 different heads idea sounds pretty good but most times the left head rarely shows up. Lots of rights for sale on evil-bay.

Any theory why there is seems to be less left heads?

If any of them are Edmunds, please let me know. I have several "saved searches" (which turn up a bunch of other stuff) and am having no luck.

I have a single US Royal Master new old stock tire that I have had for 30 years. These are the most highly sought after vintage tires out there and because of the complicated sidewall they will never be repopped... I am convinced that I will never live long enough to find 3 more... I know one thing. having stuff to look for gives life meaning, a reason to go on.... usroyal.jpeg

Is that a left tire or right?

I feel better now. If it been a 15", I'd have been really upset.

That's one of those things I learned the hard way, it seemed whenever I purchased a single part of a set, I almost never find its mate. Eventually I find the pair I was looking for, then sell off the single.

For giggles sake, here's the Navarro heads I bought at a swap. Someone milled the name out for some reason but they were cheeeeep cheep. Need a little repair underneath from less than careful handling in their past but nothing a surfacing shouldn't clean up. Only concern is the compression, they're already rated at 8.75, how much is too much on a flatty?

I just went and looked at my stash. I have a single left and a single right, both Eddie Meyer for an 8BA! Then I found a single right and a single left for the earlier version! What to do, what to do?

The good news is that both of those heads make really cool wall hangers until you do find a mate or until someone with the mate offers up enough coin to make it worth letting it go. There probably has been some guy dragging one to swap meets for years because he only has the one and guys are looking for pairs.
That Royal master is probably going to be even more of a display item than the single right side heads. Those were hell for expensive when they were new in comparison to a regular Uniroyal, Firestone or Goodyear tire. Around here you were a high roller if you had US Royal Masters on your car back then. I actually saw more of them on show cars than I ever did on the street when I went to the indoor sows in Seattle or Tacoma back then.
I can remember guys hunting used ones in the early 70's when I worked in a Firestone store. Not as sought after then as the Atlas Bucrons that the local circle track guys hunted to run on the dirt track though. If they held air and had the leat bit of tread left they would buy them out of the Used tire rack or the send them to retread stack.

I am looking for a set of Eddie Meyer heads. Either 8BA or 59a. I have a set of 8BA but the left one is unusable. Are you selling any of yours?
