Is this worth rebuilding, that would be for my 29 Roadster Ford...?

The trans appears to be a truck four speed

The floor shift makes me think it came out of a truck.
It looks to be worthy of a rebuild BUT, the only way will know for sure is if you
remove the heads and check for cracks in the block. Also, check the stroke to verify that its
either a 3 3/4 in. stroke (Ford) or 4 in. stroke (Mercury) as someone might have installed a Merc. crankshaft
assembly years ago. Also, remove the intake manifold to see if adjustable lifters have been installed.
Take photos and notes as you go. I wonder what that sending unit that is screwed into the headbolt on the bottom left of your last photo is for? It would be great if a Fordbarner could decode the RC10939 date code stamped on the intake surface.

Sure it's worth rebuilding! If it's not cracked up. Tons of guys love flatheads, and there are parts available to do anything you could want to do to them.

Believe the transmission to be a T98 WG synchronized 4 speed. Bellhousing looks to be from a 53 truck. Could be 54 in Canada as you folks kept the flatly for one more year.

I've check the transmission ,and it is a 4 speeds and yes it was on a pick-up Ford 1953 ,and the engine seem to be the original and never been rebuilt ...I think...

I don't see any obvious rust on the heads. Are they possibly a set of the elusive factory aluminum heads most usually found on trucks in Canada? It appears to be the correct color paint for a '52/'53. Maybe not, its hard to tell on a computer screen. I would definitely check the stroke on that one. Good luck with it! tumblr_nfypbtPzxL1rn8k76o1_r1_1280_zps14a7a4be.jpg

  16. Yes that "sending unit" on the head bolt is indeed a block heater. :)

I think that for videos - you have to put them on YouTube and then add a link to your post here.
I tried to upload one and that’s how I understood it.

I pulled two motors out of Ford trucks up here and both had 4" cranks.
