I've got this engine flathead ( made in Canada ) with the serial number ( rc10939 ) and a star at the end of the number , plus the transmission must be a 3 speeds...need info on that ...thanks , Don Oh ! and the heads are EAB 24 studs...
don: Please post photos of what you are dealing with including the transmission. Also, what specific questions do you have about the engine? You might also want to post your questions on www.fordbarn.com The information below will help. eab flathead ford - Search (bing.com)
Some notes here from another EAB thread: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/eab-flathead-i-d.1002154/
The floor shift makes me think it came out of a truck. It looks to be worthy of a rebuild BUT, the only way will know for sure is if you remove the heads and check for cracks in the block. Also, check the stroke to verify that its either a 3 3/4 in. stroke (Ford) or 4 in. stroke (Mercury) as someone might have installed a Merc. crankshaft assembly years ago. Also, remove the intake manifold to see if adjustable lifters have been installed. Take photos and notes as you go. I wonder what that sending unit that is screwed into the headbolt on the bottom left of your last photo is for? It would be great if a Fordbarner could decode the RC10939 date code stamped on the intake surface.
Sure it's worth rebuilding! If it's not cracked up. Tons of guys love flatheads, and there are parts available to do anything you could want to do to them.
Thanks again for the info ,Oh ,I will check further for some more...but for now I on some reno... at home , but I'll be back with some photos and notes thank you all...Don
Believe the transmission to be a T98 WG synchronized 4 speed. Bellhousing looks to be from a 53 truck. Could be 54 in Canada as you folks kept the flatly for one more year.
I've check the transmission ,and it is a 4 speeds and yes it was on a pick-up Ford 1953 ,and the engine seem to be the original and never been rebuilt ...I think...
I don't see any obvious rust on the heads. Are they possibly a set of the elusive factory aluminum heads most usually found on trucks in Canada? It appears to be the correct color paint for a '52/'53. Maybe not, its hard to tell on a computer screen. I would definitely check the stroke on that one. Good luck with it!
No ! the heads are casting , not alum.. and the color was green like your photo and it's complete so...
My V8 Flathead...it turn free , no cracks anywhere , the block seems very workable...but I can't upload the video I did...Is there something that I miss ?Don It said , ; The following error occur
I think that for videos - you have to put them on YouTube and then add a link to your post here. I tried to upload one and that’s how I understood it.
