Hi All , Got this suicide front end on my 33 chevy , Need new king pins , Its a aftermarket tube , Has grub screws to hold the king pins not cotter pins . Can anyone help me to identify the make or point me in the right direction of where to get the correct king pin set . Thanks in advance . kev
Does it really need kingpins, or just the bushings? The king pins shouldn't wear if the bushings are lubed and not allowed to completely wear out. The bushing will invariably be a standard engineering component, so you'd just need to measure up. Hone/ ream to final size when installed. Removal of the bushings isn't necessarily a destructive process so they could potentially be refitted after measurement pending replacement. Chris
Hi Chris , Not taken it apart yet , But yeah i get what your saying , You got any idea where in the uk might have said Bushings ?
Was it built in the UK? If so home manufactured tube axles used Transit and Anglia spindles. Both used grub screws.
No , it was built in USA 2010 ish by a HAMB Member , I have asked Him , said he got from a swap meet in CA .
Gizmo , That does look like mine , I suppose when it was chromed it was polished to be smooth . So that screen shot is for what ? and from where please ?
It is mounted out front of Chassis by a welded on bracket that them bolts to the transverse leaf spring .
Tie rod in front is not a suicide setup, just a builder that doesn't understand physics or geometry. Axle not under the frame, which would catch it if the spring broke is a suicide setup.
Spindle looks Chevy. 49-54 car is a quite popular spindle used for axles when a "Chevy" spindle is used.
