Absolutely make this guy a friend. Find out what kind of booze he really likes, and make sure the next time you are in the neighborhood, you just happen to have some with you, but don't be a pest. Being neighborly is one thing, but being pushy can turn it off for good!

    that's a tough spot.
did you hint around at all you'd like to buy it?
never hurts to ask, without being pushy, just show interest.

    like titus said:
a pal of mine told me once if i ever wanted to sale this motorbike of mine to let him know.
at the time i thought i'd never sale that thing. he ended up with it in a couple of years.

i don't know the details, but it seems like you could work it out.
and i haven't heard of this HAMB no interest loan, but i could throw a few c-notes on it myself.
it'd be pretty cool to get that thing in your garage and start cracking.

    Let's hope this works out.

If this guy has any fragment of kindness in him, he should let you buy it.
It is obviously not ending up on the streets by his hands.

Clean out the garage and raise the funds so you are ready when the moment is coming. :)

  6. The guy that owns it now has his own sentimental reasons for keeping it... and his own problems. The owner knows he wants it, and knows his connection to it. Patience is the best thing.

  7. I'm with everyone else...that car is a family heirloom! No offense but I think those of us who's grandfathers are gone are not hearing the sense of urgency we would like to. You will only get one shot! Take everyones advice, make sure you are #1 in line, make sure the owner understands your passion, and make sure you ALLWAYS have a "grandpa's car fund" available untill it is yours!
My PopPop was into American Indian Thunderbird symbols, he wore bolos and belts with thunderbirds on them all the time. The first car I ever saw with power windows was his mid-60s T-Bird. He is gone, and I have been trying to get my Grandmother to finda pic so I will know exactly what year to look for. If I knew where his car was I would own it at all costs.
