Found a documentary about the Mormon Meteor 3 and Ab Jenkins on amazon prime. Very cool story on the building of the car and the records it held at Bonneville Salt Flats. Covers a little bit of Sir Malcom Campbell and the 300 mph Bluebird. I think you guys will like it.
I attempted a response to the "Edwardian Monstrosity" idiom many years ago, assuming heavy-truck turbo-diesel power:
That concept would be very cool as a smaller style inline 6/inline 8 "thingy".......... Maybe minus the front fenders, if that is the right word for them...??? Equally cool as a behemoth......
It's crazy how huge/tall the tires were on these cars when you see someone standing next to them, and yet they look like tiny, spindley bicycle tires in proportion to the massive cars.
Several years ago at the Pawnee Ok Steam and Gas engine show . A Guy from Texas showed up driving a giant roadster that he had built out of a semi . It had a Cummins 6 , single wheels . It had that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang feel about it lol
On the other hand... Colossus has that good old "I'm going to beat you and leave you for dead" feel about it.
