Shroud would help. I have an electric fan in front with a thermostat in the intake that comes on at a light and kicks off when moving. Spal has what you need

  5. My 36 five window 150 hp flathead(dyno proven) 5 spd, 66 ford truck 9 in—3:00 gear, 65 mustang parallel leaf springs,Harley mufflers, rear wheels 7 in chev with ford centers(homemade 5 in backspace) to get tires inside fenders. Sold my Halibrands because too wide front and rear—-rubbed everywhere !! This 36 rides markedly better than my 32 cabriolet—heavier car longer wheelbase. 93AEC5D7-2CE5-44BC-A3C6-CCCAE6561FB9.jpeg 2939F357-8DFE-4577-AD28-818CE8910C39.jpeg B3D0D6C6-428C-44A9-B83D-4EA012811C44.jpeg 43D49AAB-D6CA-4C7B-A527-4E3974A1F3AB.jpeg 113DCEB2-A6FC-42C9-A164-56BD58AE9308.jpeg 60EDBFB6-4F84-4BA2-B963-770FDC275AFC.jpeg

Thanks guy for CE mount question.
Mounts on top of frame I will try.

Getting to the wheel , tire , axle conversation. Looking at a stock 40’ 16”x 4 1/2” on front.
    Rear 16 x 6” with a 56” wide axle .
Does that seem correct to you guys ?

Unlike the V8 models, no 3 window versions were made.

(The 1935 C and the 1936 CX were also available as roadsters in Oz. The UK did not have C/CX coupes or roadsters.)

Any pictures of how you did the anti chatter rods? Great idea.

Hi Nomad, my CE mounts are on top as mentioned above.
Dale, Thanks, I made the rods as shown below, from original anti chatter rods welded to surplus spring plates suitably drilled and cut. They mount to the original chatter rod chassis location and each side of the gearbox, in this case an M20.
In this pic also is the clutch pull chain assembly with a teflon lined guide plate from the modified 39 pedal assembly to the shortened (for pedal clearance) Chev clutch arm.

    Hello,

Now being close to 80, seeing our 60 year high school reunion come and go was just a part of life, today. In our own family, we never saw an older person than 50. Most of the “old” relatives did not live near us and we only saw them in B/W photos. How could we get so old? We were lively teens, super active 20s, with a ton of stuff to get done and have fun doing them. “Time has come, today…” But, look at us now… ha!

The history of Ed Pink is well documented. Ed Pink Engines and history in drag racing came in the early So Cal hot rod scene. The builds are associated with a lot of the top racing teams and individuals across the country.

The 36 Fords have their own look and style. It was getting away from the boxy Model T-A styling. The new look in 33-34 started the more streamlined look, rather than a moving box with doors. But, this new era was a part of the 30s Art Deco mode.

Most swoopy styles were priced out of range for the everyday families and individuals. But for the normal working folk, the factories designed their own swoopy looking coupes and other models. A new look from the USA factories started the style that is still popular, today.

    35’ / 36’ Passanger Car Steering
Who has used a 39’ Steering Column and 39’ Steering Box in a 35/36 ?
Previous owner already switched out to frame bracket to accept the 39’ .
But it looks as if I may have to move the upper mount to line up with 36’ dash

    Stretch,
I used a '37 box in my '36 that I posed photos of in this thread. I did not swap out the steering box frame mount for the later '37-'39, the individual who built my box modified the '37 box to fit the '36 frame mount. I also did not have to change the steering shaft or the steering tube; all of that is still '36. I did have to send my box for retrofitting where the original '36 steering shaft was modified to accept the '37 worm gear and work with the '37 and later box. The column lock, column support and light switch are still '36 and original to the car. Not sure how much trouble it would be to go back with the '36 frame mount, but this could be an option. Otherwise, with the '37 frame mount, I would expect you would need a '37 column drop (and maybe some shims) to get the column support aligned with the later frame mount.

Now, I will say the '37-'39 boxes are SO MUCH smoother than the '36 boxes. Now that I've had the car on the road a couple of years, I was looking to further change the steering. My next project is to use a '37-'39 box with a '49-51 steering shaft and still retain the '36 column lock. I will then move the light switch from the steering wheel to a bracket just under the dash, much like how I mounted my starter switch. The dimmer switch will then go into the hole where the original '36 starter switch was mounted.

If you're looking for someone to build a box to suit your needs, send me a message and I can provide contact info.

  28. Let's see more 35-35 Ford Coupes... the tread has gotten a bit off track with tech related questions ( not that it is a bad thing)
