At $200 a car, that leaves you plenty of cash for fuel. I haven't left NY yet. I expect to be near Delavin on Wednesday.
LOL...I've been going there for years!!! The guy who stumbles around out there is actually the woman who owns it son. Watch out for shotgun blasts, moonshine and anything else thats crazy!!! It is pretty cool but it is VERY picked through. Mike
Alright ,I gotta give you guys my Berry lake junk yard story.....I was 16 in 1981 and drove a 1954 chev half ton to school.I was really hard on tranys and blew up my 3rd one.A friend of mine knew of this junk yard "up nort "that we could find another trans at. We went up in the middle of winter and the old man that owned the yard at the time told us it would be $150 for a trans. I thought that was kinda high so I told him we would go look for one ( didn't have enough money with me ) . I was in 16 year old heaven!!!! We wondered around for an hour or so nosing around. I found the original reciept for a pickup truck in a glove box and scarfed it...I still have it today!!! I had a corner window for a 47 -55 in my hand and was going to buy it but then changed my mind ...I threw it in the snow and before I knew it the owner comes running at us screaming "get the hell out of my yard ,I never want to see you again!!!" Scared the crap out of us 16 yr olds!!! Some 15 years latter my brother in law bought a cottage just down the road from the yard and I get up there once a year and drive past that place . If I had more garage space ( and money)I would be up there in a heart beat !!!! Going up to the cottage just won't be the same now!!! PAUL
Went there today, price is $300 a car now. But will still sell parts. The name is Quast Auto Salvage. Alot is sold and not much left,so if your going get there quick.
anyone seen a somewhat solid 53 or 54 belair i just need some rockers and floorboards. but being that its in wisconsin it might just be a wasted trip for something like that.
Second all of that posted by Lee 72. If anyone is going there to get anything I recommend being prepared to do it entirely yourself - the help is VERY VERY VERY slow and can't get any of their shit started (payloader, forklift, etc).
Just caught this post. Didn't realize there were so many Wi guys on here.I lived in shawano for awhile in the early 90's but didn't realize that place was around the area. One of my favorite things to do was to walk through Karcz auto salvagein Sobieski, wi when I was a punk kid. I worked with the owner at that time at the ford dealership. I would go looking for parts for my cutlass ( and got em cheap knowing myron), but would spend a lot of time looking at what old cars and 60-70's stuff they had out there. It was the only one I knew of that you were allowed to walk through. Haven't been out there for years now, and the guys son now runs the yard. No idea what is out there now. They did get stuff from the dealership over the years, so probably a lot of fords. That place looks like it would be fun just to walk around in. Are the cars pretty much gone now? Figures the Dnr can even fook with stuff on a reservation. You think it would have gone to court or something, cause it was indian land and they couldn't do anything cause of some treaty. Small world car guy. Seen your profile. I had an interview in 2001 at pierce for metal finisher position after getting laid off from carver boat. Took the long test and toured, but didn't get hired. Also toured back in tech school days.
