Does anybody know if someone has taken over EZ Boys business, or another source for mail order upholstery?
Don't know but I will kick this to the top for ya. I got one of their last interior packages years ago, drove by and picked it up. Someone nearer to their location may know more.
EZ boy was bought up by LeBarron Bonney and then went away completely after LeBarron Bonney went out of business. I have searched for the same info and have yet to find anyone that has taken over their inventory.
I'd also like to know this. Apparently JC Whitney was making similar kits not all that long ago but I don't know if they're even in business anymore.
Hopefully somebody got the production stuff and can maybe get back to E-Z's pricing level instead of L-B's.... I think the rise in price was a big factor in dropping sales numbers for L-B.
I bought some sets of seat covers from J C Whitney and they came from E Z Boy and the last set I got was after L B bought them.
Does anybody have experience or knowledge of this upholstery company? https://www.automotiveinteriors.com/default.asp
They were part of the LeBarron Bonney deal. They originally made cheaper (than EZ Boys) seat covers, not high end, but service-able. They got bought up, and when LeBarron went under, somehow they stayed afloat. They do NOT do seat covers any more , they said that or patterns they used were taken, and they don't have replacements, as of yet. Not sure if they ever found any. So now, I believe, they just do headliners, and carpets. Last I talked to them was a couple years ago, so I'm not sure if they ever found patters, and went back into doing seat covers. They did the seat covers, and material sewn for the door panels for my old F1. Heat pressed pleats.
I used automotiveinteriors.com for door panels on a truck I built a few years ago. The panels were functional, but not high end upholstery. Not sure on seat covers, etc.
JC Whitney still exists, but in name only, and as a supplier of Jeep and 4x4 truck parts. Nothing like the original JC Whitney, and I really doubt they sell upholstery.
This has kind of been exhausted, even lately, here. Costs of materials and asking even a modest hourly wage means little income to a good upholsterer without considerable prices so you will get what you are willing to pay for. The better upholsterers do not want an inferior product out there with their name that "isn't the best" or just "does the job". I did one job like that and no more. It still looks great as the guy never flies his plane but never again. D
