Apparently all GM A body suspension parts are interchangeable from 64-72. I'm putting a 65 chevelle together for a customer, he brought me the front suspension and disc brakes from a later chevelle. He didn't bring spindles. The rotor fits the drum spindle correctly, but I'm struggling with the caliper bracket. Where can I find an exploded view of an A body front disc brake ***embly to see if I'm missing something? I've searched Google until my head hurts. Any help is appreciated
I think the spindle has to be modified to accept the bracket https://www.chevy********.com/tech-...endly-chevelle-front-disc-brake-swap-options/ Here’s a little bit of info
Yeah, 69-72 monte Carlo/ grand prix spindle ***embly (rotor, bracket, steering arm) is a direct bolt on, same ball joints. Newer chevelle/lemans use bigger ball joints so no compatibility with atleast 69 down.... .
As Anthony Myrick said, the drum brake spindle has to be modified. The casting where the top caliper mounting bracket bolt goes is too thick. Take the spindles to a machine shop or better yet, get a pair of disc brake spindles. Besides GM G body cars, first gen Camaros with disc brakes and 68-74 Nova fit also.
I’ve cut the boss back at home with common tools that I know Lloyd has. Learning to cut straight and trim square is required.
