I was lookin through the ugly customs thread and alot of the older custom jobs from the 60's reminded me of the Studebaker-Packerd Hawk. Not saying that they were ugly, but stock they look like a custom 60's car to me. Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen one that was'nt stock and it got me wondering, did/do people customize them at all? Anyone have pics of custom Packard Hawks? Kinda curious to see what, if anyone, has done with em other then restore them.
Not too many made to begin with - the nose & deck are fibergl*** I think - I kinda like 'em in a catfish-mouthed sort of way...
Yeah they're definatly differant and not too many were made. But I would think some have been hotrodded or customized. But maybe not. I'm sure their differant look has a big part on why they arent more popular rod material. (edit) Make that rod material period lol
There were only about 580 built. They are rare. At Goodguys Des Moines there was a yellow one a few years ago mildly hopped up. Nice cars would love to have one.
While searching for the right place to write up a Parts Wanted ad, I found this thread. Maybe or maybe not the best place to ask, but- Anybody know where I can find a not-too-expensive Packard Hawk catfish nose piece? I brought home a beat up, broken, green moss covered, hood with broken hood braces, two long tears where someone pry-barred the hood scoop trim off, and hood corners rounded from dragging it on concrete swap meet to swap meet. You should have seen what a sad shape it was in when I dragged the hood home. Today it is pretty. After a long process of fixing it back into decent condition and making my own stainless steel hood scoop trim, I am now ready to work on the nose if I can find one that can be bought on a very tight budget. I cannot pay high prices, but am able to patch up junky ones. Anyone know of a Packard Hawk nosepiece, cracked, damaged, or whatever than can be obtained for my Hawk project? Should I put my request in another section? THANKS!
