I'm wondering how many hambers are in bands,I'm doing this in the hope of doing some gigswaps or doing some multiple band shows, maybe we could do a hambfest! If any bands are playing during the week of cruisin the coast let me know,I'd like to come see ya or get in on a show with you.
well, there's 4 out of 5 members of highschoolcaesar.com that play in a band....and rock out on the hamb!
I've been playing drums for 30 years - haven't been in a band since mid-80s. I just made the cut for Killer Filler, a kick-*** insturmental band playing surf, funk, and southern soul (STAX records out of Memphis), in the style of those genres from the early to late 60's. The band's been together a few years, and is working to finish an album of originals and covers. Chris Bess (formerly of Southern Culture on the Skids) is the driving force of Killer Filler from behind is Hammond B3 and array of keyboards. The two guitarists and b*** player are also excellent. (I still don't know how the hell I got the job?) LOL You can check a few MP3s on myspace here: http://www.myspace.com/killerfiller We hope to be playing out by late-October/early-November. I know there's a number of other HAMBers out there in bands... Bleed comes to mind. I'm sure others will reply too. -murph
Guitar/ harmonica player in a christan rock band AZ*U*R (as you are). I don't know if the typical HAMBer would care for us. 4 of our members are ex-pro musicans. We're playing at an Octoberfest next weekend. If anybody in the KC area needs a band, let me know. Mick www.az-u-r.com
I was in a few bands. lookin' for a drummer now. style would be somethin' like social d, black furies, super****ers, hellacopters etc.
Hmmmmm. Will this post stimulate a trend toward jam sessions at HAMB gatherings? Me? I like the idea of accoustic guitars and b***es and drummers playing with brushes on whiskey boxes after hours at car shows and races. Pretty girls singing Patsy Cline and Kitty Wells songs and greasy handed guys playing harmonicas. The kind of stuff that will draw an appreciative crowd at the Hot Rod Reunion and get you kicked out of uptight shows like the Labor Day Cruise in Orange County. Yeeeah, I think there are some pickers on the HAMB. Plus I bet if you swung a cat, you'd most likely hit several punk rockers. You already knew there were a bunch of players on here, Possum, what did ya have in mind? Wanna stay up all night drinkin' and swappin' songs?
Signing in..... I've got a rockabilly band, Black Snapper, also a blues duo with the guitarist from BS. www.blacksnapper.co.nz Bit of a ways for us to come to a jam though.......
HAMBdom include current and former members of the Bomboras, High Noon, BR-549, Harold Ray Live In Concert, Thunderchiefs, and the Hot Rod Hucksters.
Oh Yeah! I play drums for outlaw country band Hellbound Glory out of Reno. The playing in bands actually finances the car, mostly. I just wish I could fit my b*** drum somewhere other than the front seat, beacause it squeezes the little lady out. For the nor-Cal folks, we're playing with Johnny Dilks Oct. 21st at the Owl Club in Roseville.
Right now, it looks like I'm down to one band from a high of 4. Good deal. Anyhow, we play early-60s styled garage rock or 'pre-hippy psychadelic rock'. Our recordings don't sound much like us, mostly due to the engineer taking free reign on adding effects to guitars and the fact that we've replaced our blues harp player with a full-time organ. Oh well, you get what you pay for... http://www.myspace.com/cincinnatisuds I don't know how you guys manage to get paid enough to finance car stuff, we usually walk with about $50 apiece after playing. That is, if they don't hit us up for damages related to us playing. We're running out of local venues where one of us hasn't been kicked out, so we may end up in a town near you soon...
Forgot to mention the Primates' own Cadillac Kid, who is a fulltime pro saxman and plays in several touring bands.
I've been in a number of bands around the Pittsburgh area over the years and trying to put something together as we speak. usually playing in the rockabilly/jump blues sounds. also I enjoy jammin bluegr*** with traditional acoustic instruments. my instrument of choice is a homemade WASHTUB b***. yep a tub, a stick, and a rope. I always have it in the trunk of my car in case a pickin' circle breaks out anywhere!!!
I'm a new Hamber, but I play in the primitive rock band Joint Jumpers. www.myspace.com/thejointjumpers
new member FRANKENFORD is in this band...east bay psychobilly http://www.myspace.com/graveyardhooligans
