    I'm putting dual Edelbrock carbs on the 354 Hemi I'm having built for my Model A coupe. It's an open engine car, no hood, sides, etc. so I'd like to put something interesting on the carbs other than the usual small round air cleaners. I see so many cool scoops and vintage looking air cleaners, but they're all for 1 and 2 bbl carbs. There seems to be little available that's cool and vintage looking for dual 4bbl carbs. I see O'Brien Tuckers has some that look like Nicson type spark arresters, (see photo below) but that's about it.

    I'd like to have individual units, not the two carbs under one big scoop. I'm not big in the faux bug catcher look either. Are any of you aware of something vintage looking and unique that's available out there now?

    Here's mine, dual mushroom style cleaners, with added holes to enhance air flow.

    Here you go…The air cleaner bases are from Charlie Price. They are cast aluminum. The filters are EMPI for a V-dub. The covers are pan lids from a kitchen supplier. I just removed the knob on top. They were about 1/4” to large on the lip so I made offset 1/4 allthread stems. Normally I keep the Red Purolator one on. 333E515B-8095-4C21-A5E0-B36601E3D033.jpeg

    Whatever you choose, it should look "functional" rather than just shiny and dressy. By that I mean that it should look like its purpose is to actually provide as much clean air as the engine can use rather than some "novelty" that looks cheap and phony. Your gonna have a Hemi underneath whatever you use and the breathers you choose will make or break how it looks.

  15. Speed Sport scoop made by Red Greth. I have been in love with this design since it first apeared on the Speed Sport roadstar over 50 years ago. I finally convinced Red to make one for me. This will be the vary last one. I am proud to run it on my RPU.

    In the very early 1960s,I didn't have $,but had entered my 28A roadster in a car show{ It was not as complete as I wanted,so some rush was order of the week. }. But frame and engine V8 Y-292 Thunderbird was nicely done by then,"Engine yellow and Frame gloss black. I was smoothing out the body*,so mix together some left over paints,a few colors, from the body shop"I worked part time at" The mix turned out a purple. As a temp paint* just for this first show. * My Thunderbird power was 2x4< carbs off a Cady/no aircleaner. For the this first show,I found two womans lag garters'' Purple with black lace and I added one yellow plastic ROSE to top of eack carb. That held a 1/2 ball of screen to top of carbs as a rock stopper. Pic are lost,wish I could find them.. After show,an some extra smoothing out,I painted body high gloss black. No cars that were not painted,were let into these big indoor shows. So zero primer allowed. So the rushedd paint job.
    I liked the Lady's garters carb toppers,,,an kept that set up for almost 2 two years.
    ;):D The temp purple,was on it,long enough" That my buddy's gave cmy rod a nick name with that color combo of {Yellow,Purple,Black} "The Hickey". After doing the gloss black body,I named it "Black Plague" for a few years. WE had a thing,in our group,about every one had a gross car name of some type.

    Just a slight correction. That's a Richie's Loudmouth. A friend of mine was the owner of Richie's back then, before selling to Arias.

    @big duece,

    That is really cool. How is it held to the carbs?

    Now THAT's unique and cool. Never seen one like that. You might want to consider having a few cast off that one. Lots of guys would jump at the chance to have one of them, I would think.

    EDIT - How does that get held in place when in use?
