I’m posting here cuz I’ve just “discovered” the 33-35 dodge pickup. I want to find one to build. That cab looks like it has tons of potential. For a hot rod!
Here’s a couple examples. One with stock grill shell, the other with some other brand.

I know where a 35 cab is in Oregon but the shipping would be a deal breaker. The beds however, are pretty simple. Nothing is rounded. Everything can be bent up on a large brake. First time I laid eyes on one of these beds I thought someone had made it themselves. Never would have guessed they were factory.

I thought the exact same thing on the beds Scott!

  4. The beds look a little too boxy for my taste compared to the rest of the pickup. It would be cool to build one that was a bit more stylized

My son can cut out just a bout anything on the water jet. I have some subtle change ideas. Really too early for the bed for me. I think find a cab first.

Nice looking car! How well did it fit the 32 frame? I have a 34 Ford chassis that I set my coupe on just to get it off the ground. I was amazed at how it almost felt like they were made for each other.

The bed leaves a lot of room for creativity. One thing I'd like to do for mine is to stamp DODGE into the tailgate. They really didn't try to hard when it came time for the bed. It's like it was an afterthought.

  9. I seem to recall the beds were made by a different mfg......not by Dodge. That's why they don't really "match".

Yeah, we need to remember it was the Depression. They were doing anything to make a dollar.

  11. it fit slightly over the frame but looked at home. I have seen it done before here in SoCal and another coupe using a ford frame.

Anyone watching Halfass customs struggle through his 35 Dodge build?
He started with a miss match of parts, then bought a 35 Desoto 4 door and started over ... At one point he had a decent looking 5 window .... nope he wanted a 3 window .... Fun to watch the fabrication process.

Maybe these Dodges are gaining popularity? This ‘35 just sold for $140,000 at that big BJ auction. 273DD850-50E8-4B7B-BA5B-C8C166DD9DB5.jpeg

  14. The mopar picks come up once in a while in barn find form they fetch right around 5k complete. There is a couple that show up at the LARS and they seems to want 32k for them as driver hotrods. Nice trucks.

So, looks like the late '35 used the '36-8 bed? Along with the '36 cab and doors.

'34 Dodge pickup I found. Never did anything with it, sold it on eBay many moons ago. I wish I kept it.
    I really love '33-'34 Dodges.

Late 35 lost the suicide doors and the top was solid metal. Didn't have the insert. I imagine they rolled that tooling right into 36. But appears to have used the grill that was first used in 33.

Plugging away on my '33 short track tribute (will be street driven). Need door hinges, cut off in the 50's when they built this thing and welded doors shut. Front end/rearend/4 sp A833 rebuilt, sheet metal going in, got the big dents out. Wiring and plumbing is next. Hopefully this summer...

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought about using the 1 1/2 ton grill on a regular pickup. Very unique. I like it.

I had a regular grill but liked the look of this one better in the end so I went with it.
