I’ve combed through several 700r4 threads and can’t find the answer to this. Would side to side misalignment cause a problem, as long as the cable is still pulling in a straight line? I have a geometry corrector and cable bracket for my AFB from TCI, but they don’t line up. I really don’t want to cut up the bracket and move it out, because it will interfere with my throttle linkage. Will this setup be ok or do I need to start hacking? Thanks I’m advance. Looks to me if you bent that bracket back towards the firewall a little bit it would give clearance to the throttle shaft as well as make a straight run from the bracket to the linkage. It might work that way but I can't imagine it would last like that.

Great idea! The simplest solutions are always the best! How’s this look? A8ADA365-42CC-4272-8540-E5435CA89126.jpeg

I have the same cable on a 2004R and I just made a spacer to space the bracket out to allign with the carb, took 30 minutes and all's good about 7 years down the track. I'll see if I can find a photo

Not the best but if you look closely you can see its a bit of angle with the downwards side cut out for a section to allow the flat topside to slide over the carb base where it bolts down. The angle side acts as a "stop" so the whole bracket wont rotate forward with the pulling motion. I just measured how far I needed to space it out from the carb stud and drilled two holes - carb stud and space away from the carb stud to line up.

I’d want it in line. Spacer, etc to locate it properly.

Yours is not such a severe offset as the OPs.

1: Why not cut the top square off the cable bracket, if you are not going to use it for a throttle cable? Then extend the bracket toward the valve cover, under the throttle linkage.
    2. Is the geometry corrector properly installed? I think it should have two bolts.

In this example, the throttle connects in original position at the top. Lower bolt attached to original trans cable location on carb linkage. Empty hole is for 700R4 cable.

There are two bolts. One top and bottom of this bracket.

I just cut my bracket, and then moved it over to align and welded in a piece of flat bar to set the new location.

Something looks funny here, doesn't it? Is it possible that the new lever for the T.V. cable is bolted on upside down? Or maybe it somehow could be mounted "inside out" so that the side facing outward now would face inboard against the throttle lever on the carb? How about some pics with the throttle rod attached to the carb, both a side view and a front view.

its not now but it was before I made the spacer. I'll get a better photo, mine was exactly like the OP's

I'd run it the way you have it now and see how it works. Might look a little funky but it's a straight shot to the linkage and it's not interfering with the throttle linkage. Also as I understand it you have to be very careful when adjusting that cable. If you don't get it set correctly you could burn your transmission up.

I agree the current bent/angled bracket should work just fine. All you really need is for the cable to enter the sheathing straight, which it does now. The angle at the carb is not a problem, you could angle it if you wanted to.

Be careful !!! Getting this wrong can trash the trans in a very short time.
My first action would be to talk to TCI about the bracket/carb combo you have. I don't think they are a match.
Send your pics to them and see what they say.....

I'm pretty sure those cables are self adjusting in setup when you follow a certain procedure, so, as long as there's a straight-ish shot on the cable and the setup procedures followed, all should be good.
