Hello All, I've posted this event up each year so here we go again. Firstly thanks to all that came and made it the day it was, as always Peddro and I are humbled that you will come along to our little pokie event. Quite a few travel a fair distance for a one day-er and we really appreciate that. For those who haven't seen/heard of this, its an invite only we keep it low key and its a driving event. We start off at a service station on a road called 'Black Forest Drive' (hence the name) in Central Victoria and then traverse the back roads from there , ending up at a country pub for lunch. One of the great things about starting from this location is that which ever way you go the landscape changes about every 20-30 minutes of driving, so you really get to see some beautiful back roads that otherwise you would probably never drive. For me this is probably what I love about it, being able to look in front or behind and see a caravan of cars just enjoying a day out. We don't cover a huge range, this year it was a little over 100mi. and we sometimes do up to 130mi , we throw a couple of stops in there and that is about it. We reckon this is a pretty cheap run as its $10 a head and Peddro does a killer poster each year. This year we finally engaged the services of O'Brien Truckers to make us a keyring from the poster artwork. This is something we had talked about but were too late last year. And well I will have to say if Dennis wasn't such a stand up guy to work with, we probably would have missed this year too. It was skin of the teeth stuff as the keyrings arrived on the Friday afternoon before the Saturday run! Close... So a big thanks to Dennis for helping us out and getting them done in probably record time so they would make their way here. So everyone skips the words so heres some photos, Thanks to my son Paxton for most of the photos while Peddro and I were dealing with the people , Paxton was sent out with my phone to snap a few photos at the start. The poster, Artwork by Peddro and here are the keyrings, I reckon they are pretty cool So my Roadster, Martins Dodge coupe - caddy posered, Aarons A coupe and Jamies fully fendered 32 Roadster, Kyles A roadster is hidding there too. Below is our first stop at Toolern Vale General store, the wind was horrific, if you look at the photos you can see the gr*** on the side of the road is nearly horizontal. A few driving shots and Wayne and I in my roadster ( we're the organisers of this )
We had a good time, thanks for the invite. First good drive in the A Sport Coupe with a Burtz based banger. First drive around town was the previous Monday.
Looks like a good day once again and the weather Gods were pleased. Could'nt make this one, hopefully next year
I was doing some rearranging in the den and found the mailing tube with this poster sent to me by Swifty. I look forward to seeing the photo's of this run every year. HRP
You need to laminate it and hang in the den @HOTRODPRIMER I've got a full set of 12 as there wasn't a poster for #1 After the success of #1 it's an annual event and has been for the last 13 years. The key ring for entrants this year was a nice touch.
A great day despite the wind it seems...always enjoy the good times you fellas share your way...thanks for bringing it our way @flatoz
