    Met him at the LA Roadster Show in 199? He signed a poster and chatted up a teenager, cool guy in my book.

    Happy Birthday Alex........I was very blessed to have met him at the LA Roadster Show around 2003. He was very low key.......genuine......and patient with my questions........a huge event for an old man from the Midwest finally meeting one of the California legends I had only previously known from a lifetime of Hot Rod Magazine. Thank you sir.

    Hey, Alex ~ I just read about Ed "the camfather" Iskenderian turning 102 and I found this thread after searching your name.....to see if you were still "upright". You probably don't remember me, but I worked with you as one of two tech editors at Hot Rod Magazine back in the mid-70's, when Robert E. "Pete" Petersen hired you as our industry liaison.

    Publisher Sal Fish and Editor Terry Cook hired me, as I was just a youngun at the time (now 78). You had a much nicer (well-deserved) office than me, overlooking Sunset Blvd, lol. Do you remember the liquor store across the street? Terry somehow got the number of the phone booth that was in front, and we used to call unsuspecting pedestrians as they walked by.....and have "fun" (let the reader use discernment, lol).

    Anyway.......HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY, you old fart!! :) <thumbup>

    Living in SoCal and attending many shows over the years, I have had the pleasure to chat with Alex a few times. I have found him to have no guile, humble and down to earth and most gracious whill chatting with a regular car nut like me. A true honor to meet him ! Happy birthday Alex! You are both a legend and a true treasure for all of us.

    Happy Birthday Alex! I had the pleasure of listening in on a small group of the pioneers reminiscing at the California Hot Rod Reunion. Alex, Wally Parks and a couple others. One of the stories was about them being at the Salt Flats and deciding to pour some nitro in the tank of their rental car. They ended up destroying the motor.
