Just thinking that for 100 bucks I can cut a batch of those spacers out of a piece of s**** steel plate, drill the holes to match the box and sit on my stool and grind on them with my angle grinder until I have one trimmed up to fit the way I want it to. I remember the article that showed how to do it the way NealinCA showed and that always was the way I thought of doing it. I'd have to prevail on my buddy with the mad metal working skills for that though.
Many people don't have the tools but if you do, a kickout on the frame works much better than a plate and if you need a bit more header room you can build that in at the same time. Looks like factory then.
On the Model A jalopy I'm working on, I used a front axle wedge for a large truck and just put the holes where I wanted. I could also slide the wedge backwards and forwards to get the column centered where I wanted. Gene.
I made a bump out on the frame rail of my 33. I did trim the flange down to put the column at my desired angle. Disregard the junk mock up draglink and the unbent pitman arm.
Hey, Kevin; I understand. If possible, I just would rather not deal w/bad business(es) - if I know who to avoid. & yes, some are big names, & since they're rarely named, like the Energizer Bunny, they keep going... It's a Problem everywhere, & sadly, getting worse. I've had a few friends fill me in, names & why/what happened - privately, but mostly that's a fluke & being in the right place/time for the discussion. I get it. Marcus...
Casting aside, most of the Henry castings I've played with have welded beautifully with ER-70. (#limitedexperience) D
I use 312 SS rod most of the time. Sometimes silicon bronze. This was 312. You can see the slight color difference in the weld ring
Thanks @NealinCA I just made my own flange. The center hole is a little smaller but is cut straight and will be enlarged with correct angle.
