Bruce Meyer has donated the iconic McGee ‘32 Roadster to the Peterson Automotive Museum. Mr. Meyer has always said he is just a care taker of the legendary collection of early hot rods in possession. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1139126_bruce-meyer-donates-world-s-most-famous-hot-rod Well done Mr. Meyer!
Bruce was instrumental in getting hot rods the recognition they so richly deserve on the hollowed grounds of Pebble Beach, his desire to insure the future of vintage cars and hot rods is apparent with the generous donation of such a iconic car. Thank you Bruce. HRP
I guess this means I won’t be able to buy it when I’m a multimillionaire and take it back to the Scritchfield version.
Perfect place for one of the hot rods that set the bar higher for builders then and now. History preserved.
Read it in the SEMA newsletter yesterday, it’s nice move and will be in the public view rather than hidden in a private collection.
Bruce has all of the “take off” parts, so ya might hit him up to see if he’ll part with them so you can make that million dollar dream come true .
Seeing this car go from Scritch’s stewardship to a couple of owners in AZ, then back here to So-Cal where “PC3g” started the restoration process before Bruce acquired the former “Doane Spencer Deuce” which actually got put on the restoration fast track ahead of the already established restoration project of Bob McGee’s version completed by the 90’s rebirth of “SO-CAL SP SHOP” in 1999 , The very famous Red McGee 32 Roadster has never really been out of the public’s eye. Seems to always have a 2nd home @ “The Pete” when not in Bruce’s Beverly Hills Digs. so in a sense this Hot Rod will just have a more permanent presence in “The Pete”. .
I doubt that would happen.. there is a lot of legal paperwork that goes into when a car is donated to a museum ( selling or trading)..Look at the Kremer Porsche and the Vintage Indy Car deal from Indy museum.. How the two brother tried to to get the Kremer car back..big legal battle they lost. pretty much signed away the ownership, when they went to jail. then tried to get the car back .. Peterson is a great for it to be seen and enjoyed.. Thank you Bruce Meyer for donating it...
