With getting my 39 standard coupe on the road last year and having the time of my life in it I decided that the only way I'm ever going to build a hot rod is to just do it. So I came up with a plan I would start scouring the local cl***ifieds and build an early model T on a model A frame. I figured I would run an 8 inch rear, a 351w, and a T5 trans. The goal was to throw it together fast. I picked up a really nice already boxed 30 frame and a 23 turtle back trunk section. There was other misc T parts that I found and started to stash. Then I got a good deal on a 1918 touring car. It was missing the drive train and all the wood. This was perfect to convert into a hot rod. I was thinking early 60's with green metal flake paint. But I wanted an A more than a T. I was looking at cars for sale on Facebook marketplace an there was two 1940 Packard 4 door sedans for sale. In the background was a pile of model a parts. I quickly sent off a message asking if he was interested in selling the early ford parts he had. He came back and said yes. So I scheduled a time to go check out what he had. There was 3 frames, most of a car, a bunch of axles, 4 or 5 gas tanks, the rear section of another sports coupe, misc wheels, a few motors, and a bunch of other parts. A deal was struck and a time was set to come remove the parts. Now I needed to get the T sold so I had room for the model a. I listed it and it sold in 4 hours. Must have listed it cheap. That was OK because it was out of my garage. We proceeded to load two trailers loads of parts plus a bunch of stuff in the back of my suburban. Back right before I got the T I ended up with a 53 cab over frame that had a 272 y block in it. I decided I should go y block at that point. The beginning of October I was at a car show talking to an older gentleman and he happened to have a 292 y block he was looking to sell. I picked that up. I have a lot of work ahead of me but I'm really looking forward to it. This has been a dream of mine for years. A buddy of mine always say "you better get bust living or get busy dying ". The car will stay a sports coupe. I want to channel it over the frame and chop it at least 2 inches. I'm picking up a t85 with an r11 overdrive. I want to run that trans. I don't know what axle I'm running yet but I'll figure it out. I picked up I think a 1950 imperial gauge cluster and think I'm going to run it if I can make it work in the car. Most of the body parts are 28/29 sports coupe parts. My daughter thinks we should ***le it as a 1928.
Last night was a good night picked up the T85 with R11 overdrive I've been meaning to get from my neighbor and went and picked up a Chrysler 8.75 rear from a 1957 chrysler imperial.
Too many! There's a build thread on here somewhere of a Canadian Sport Coupe, a cool jigger, can't remember the owners name. It's a tan sort of colour. Chopped & a highboy.
