    Good Evening HAMB.
Attempting a trans swap on a 1956 Sunliner.
New trans going in is a 4R75, which is basically the newest electronic version of the AOD. Still a 4 speed OD.
Using the Speed Gem adapter kit. The problem I'm running into is the trans will not go back far enough to clear crank adapter because the back of the trans runs into the X brace, which I believe is specifically a convertible problem. I've made some small cuts on the X brace to be able to slide the back more, but it's not quite enough.

Anyone out there done this swap with a convertible frame? Any tips to making this swap happen?

I appreciate any help out there.

People I know had the same problem with the early AOD in an early Bird. The cut the frame. It wasn't enough to screw anything up so I am told.

Here is what I did to my 55 conv but really AOD clearance was not so much the issue, did it for driveshaft clearance. 55 build pictures, inner fenders and frame 010.JPG
