Hi, Brought this car 3 years ago and ive only just got it on the road 4 months ago trying to fix the previous owners stuff ups. I have noticed a hose clamp placed on the upper steering column above the spring stop clamp? Obviously not from factory. If its above the spring stop clamp where is the spring? Inside the mast jacket? Or is it gone which is why the spring is there? Note: • Steering wheel can be pushed forwards about 10mm and it returns back • Isn't the spring stop clamp meant to be hard up against the mast jacket? • The upper coupling has a little bit of movement in it • I can see what looks like the bearing above the modern hose clamp I have attached a image. Thanks for any help you can give. ]
I enlarged the pic. always select full image when posting pics. especially when looking for help... hard to say what is going on with that hose clamp. maybe the lower bushing is shot? as BJR said, you should pull it apart and fix it
Agree with @saltflats, should be a spring where the hose clamps sits. Maybe the coupling further down the shaft has been worked on before and the previous owner “deleted” the spring? Could be a good time to pull it apart as well when you correct the spring issue. Cheers 61Cruiser
What you originally posted was a thumbnail pic. Even when clicked on they are half the size of the full images. It is helpful when you are posting pics looking for help to make them as large as possible, the only reason you’d is a full image now is because I edited your post and changed it to full image
Mate I haven't changed the image at all its exactly how i posted it. And who cares anyway no one else had to zoom in so chill
Ohhhhhh i was reading it wrong haha you changed it i thought you said i changed it my bad it was nearly midnight here reading it half asleep
