Just curios if I can even post this or not. We are all getting older and loosing great folks of the hobby all the time. I HATE hearing friends selling their cars because of medical bills. Is there a way to raise money for the folks in this situation? I would be the first contributor of $50.00.

I've seen it here where there has been an auction held on a cool part, or stickers sold to help out a fellow car guy that was dealing with sickness.

I am All in for helping a H.a.m.b.er with medical bills if I can. Even $1.00! Medical bills **** and we can help. I would contribute to every fund, even if it was $1.00 than nothing. I don't know how to set up a Go fund me page but I would love to see it happen with my friend. mark.

  6. Either someone has medical insurance
or they don’t - if they do then the majority
of their bills are covered - if they don’t
    it doesn’t make a difference.

It is a great idea to help others.
If someone needs help with the demands
of Life because of age - health - ? ….
    Helping them by volunteering your
time can make a big difference in
    their day to day life.

Usually, an automobile sale do to health issues is because of a long term health issue, or an end of life health situation. In those events, charitable donations probably isn't going to help save the vehicle.

Not trying to sound harsh, but it is my opinion that often the "I have to sell it because of health reasons" may be because of the person's realization that they can't take their cherished possession with them when they die, so they are hoping to find it a good home while they are still living.

I have medicaid and a supplemental plan, that little plan runs me $205 a month, but zero surprise bills and something like a $20 co-pay no matter who I see. Just a thought. I would surely give in to help a fellow hot rodder.

Medical issues may include arthritis and joint wear and tear to the point you cannot get in and out of certain vehicles any more without crawling on all fours. At least that is my experience with my wife's Miata, and I am sure would be with a model T to most early 30's based hot rods. Getting old ****s, but at least I can still get in my truck, just hate
trying to get up if I need to do anything under it.

If you want to raise money for a friend in need, you need to come up with an idea to do it then message Ryan to ask if it’s cool to use the forum for that purpose. I have done it several times for a friend that was battling cancer with sticker sales and a tag topper auction. Ryan was more than accommodating and fellow hamb members were more than generous. Happy to say my pal that was battling cancer has since rung the bell and doing great.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not sure of his insurance situation (plan). It is for his better half that is in need. I will contact Ryan. Thanks again, Kevin.

  15. Perhaps helping folks in situations like this could be included in Ryan's new baby..."The Jalopy Journal Auction House!" I do not see any reason why an auction for a piece of memorabilia or even a vehicle to help a widow of one of our car guys could not be done in this new "auction section"

    God Bless

Thanks Bill, I know Ryan is up to his eyeballs with starting the new auction site and I hate to bother him again. I have a few items I would be willing to part with to help out. Why not list the cars for auction as they come in, just like the "cars for sale" and "parts for sale"? That way everyone that aren't looking for a specific car or part might come across something they think is cool, and has to have. It's all in the hunt!

Hey Lippy, I don't know if Mark or his wife is a Vet, But I am. I spent almost 7 years in the U.S. Army and found my wife of 40 years plus to date. A Filipino in Germany! Go figure! 228th signal corp(36Hotel) and Combat engineer(12Fox)

The VA takes good care of me, I have had a knee replaced, a hernia mesh, 2/2 Armored CAV. (45P20)I also spent some time in Germany. I will be starting treatment soon . If he's a vet he should be good to go as far as medical. Except for dental. Oh I see it's for his partner, I believe it may still apply. Lippy
