If the engine used a valley cover, it can't be for an early 318; the intake sealed the top of the engine on them. Cadillac, Packard, Chrysler, DeSoto, or Dodge hemi all used cast iron dual quads at one point.

  4. As did the big mopar wedge. The gasket seals the valley.

Drop us a pic with some close ups of any markings that are visable.
or email them to porkn****** at comcast dot net and I'll post 'em for ya.

the casting # on the bottom are cwc 1731560. I did some looking and its almost identical to the intake on an old desoto hemi i have in a truck the ports look similar only the hemi is 1 inch longer between the bolt holes at each end. I emailed some pics to porkn****** he said he will post them

The 1956 Desoto Adventurer motor was a 341CI
The carbs should be WCFBs with a choke on the rear only!
Do they still have the br*** tags on the carbs wit the numbers?

Let me know how much? and do you have the bat wing air cleaner?

  11. Sold! who do I make the check to?

  12. Hell send me a check, its not like i couldn't find a place to use it.:D

Here's pics of the intake in question for those who want to see it. Its not a wedge intake because it doesn't have siamesed ports. Just for info, as we already know its a hemi intake.

BTW if you save an image as a jpeg instead of a bmp it will reduce the file size a ton.

Yes it is a 1956 Desoto Adventurer easy to tell by the type of waterneck. The 57 Adventurer was similar but had an additional heater hose connection on the waterneck. It will fit the 56-57 Desoto Hemis but I do not think the carbs are correct (at least the front) but that does not matter for hot rods any way! are the br*** tags still on the carbs? if so what are the numbers?

The tag is still on the rear carb although its bent up# 2476 then maybe an s it's hard to make out. Then B6 with an 8 undeneath. The front carb tag has been torn off. It's also got linkage between the two that looks like a turn buckle. Thanks for the info guys. I would love to sell it but i better wait for a while because i just talked the guy out of it. And i dont want him thinking i just wanted to make a buck off of him.anyway i might find an engine to put it on. nice combo to slip into my 36 ford pickup

The rear carb is correct! but I am not sure about the front. Original dual carb setups used hexigonal idle set screws on the lower base that face towards the front of the car of course they would have originally had cross over tubes also but they appear to be gone on yours. the linkage you describe sound like the correct progressive linkage.

I am a 20 year member of the National Desoto club and I used to own a 1957 Desoto Adventurer ragtop that is now over in Italy. I have studied the Desoto's and in particular the Adventurer series for many years.

Old thread but for anyone that is researching this the 56 carbs did not have the crossover tubes as they do in 57 carbs.
