Member can't join a social group

I inherited a social group and have a HAMB member trying to join, but whenever he tries to request to be a member he gets a reply that says he has insufficient permissions. Is this something in the group settings or does it have to do with his HAMB membership ?

I moderate the Old Farts social group and I am not aware of any problem joining, Does he have less than 10 post? HRP

...I'm not sure. It was someone else who ultimately figured it out.

 

Hey man, sometimes you'll have roadblocks if you have less than 10 posts. Go look at some of the threads and comment on them, won't take long and you'll have that covered. But when you go to the forum, and it says you aren't privileged, that's only because you don't belong to the forum. Click on the forum tools link, and click join forum. It's that simple. I've been on here for over a decade and still have no idea were the social groups are on the site.

 

@ol'stinky , there are six banners at the top of every page, right below the red bar that says Jalopy Journal.
The second banner from the left is member services, looks like three heads or faces.
Click on it and one of the choices is Social Groups.

I found them like that, but every one of them have zero posts and are marked private and also say insufficient privileges to comment. Thought I had joined one or two before the big makeover a few years back, but don’t even remember what they were now. No idea what’s going on there…
