3m never looked so good...and it really has a tough job...welding paper...I really can't wait to see more...

 

To me, it looks like you did a great job. It all seems to flow nicely.

 

1st class move keeping the drip rails. At 1st I was wondering why no rounded door corners, and as I stared at it the OEM vibe stepped on my toe. Yes, perfect, all day. Nice chop.

You certainly made that look fast and easy! Killer work.

I've seen a bunch of chopped cars at various events pre-body work (read mud/filler) demonstrating their welding battle scars. Many needed 1/4 - 1/2" of filler to burry the "craftsmanship" of the chop. Yours should be held up as the model of how it is to be done.

Ya know if you need more practice ruining Mercs, I also have a '51 coupe that I can drop off for the weekend.

 

I'll keep that generous offer in mind. I have one more to ruin in the shop now.

 

The Torq Thrust 2's are covered by the '48-'52 Caddy sombreros. I usually don't run without the skirts.

 

Beautiful workmanship, and nice collection of '49 dashes on the garage wall! The outside opening garage door freaked me out a little bit, too. Great build though, very nice proportions, keep the pictures coming.

 

Thanks for sure, but I have to ask, whats concerns you about my garage door? Installed about 20 years ago and never a problem. Doesn't get in the way of the lift or anything in the shop, so ???

 

I like the way you kept the quarter window long. I hate when guys make it short and stubby. Yours resembles mine.

 

I think it’s pretty clever. Helps keep the rain out when working with it open. Also a nice shady spot to sit and ponder your next move with a cool beverage.

I just never saw one that did that before, so seeing it in the picture threw me for a loop, like a forced perspective or something. Probably none of those in the state of Wisconsin, where it might have to clear a 2 foot wall of snow 5 months out of the year. Probably works great in a sunny place, though.

 

It would clear an eight foot wall of snow. It's just a normal garage door mounted on the outside of the shop. The rails are on swing arms. They fold in.

 

Looks like a overhead door turned around. Interesting

I don't know why, but I assumed it flipped up in one big panel and not rolled up toward the outside. This makes way more sense now that I see these pictures. Never saw one like that.
