Thanks for the photos. I thought the Torq Thrusts and whitewalls without skirts was a pretty cool setup. Looking forward to more photos as you make progress. I try to keep photos of chopped Mercs as reference for the day I get to mine. The in-process photos are quite helpful.

No problem. That's a good idea. As far as wheels, suspension, the way I tune the sbc motor in it, and other cool stuff about my Merc, I don't talk about those because they're not traditional enough for the powers that be on this website and I don't want to get my pee pee wacked. Anyway, I have other commitments and as much as I'd like to work on my own projects, I can't so they go slow. I'll keep progress pics on here as much as possible. Thanks for your interest in my project.

Beautiful, the roof line flows and looks airstreamed .

Playing with video. Caution might make you dizzy.

I have a few questions. It looks like you have some pieces from another roof that you are adding to the corners above the rear window. Is that correct? Or are those fabricated pieces? Also, will you share what amount you chopped the front and rear at?

Sure. Yes I had a roof from a part out and I didn't want to waste it so I used it on this chop, although the sections could have been easily wheeled out. I cut about 4.5 inches out of the A post and around 5 inches from the C post. The measurements weren't exact. I just cut til I liked the profile and flow of the roofline to deck lid.

Superb looking chop and excellent workmanship. Thank you for extending the 1/4 windows....makes all the difference. So few people do that and I really like the look with the longer window than shortened up...keeps the c pillar in balance and not so fat.

After looking at yours, I believe you’re right. The chops will be similar. Did Matt do yours?

Video demonstrated some time invested in the silhouette. As you said, "Just cut 'til I liked it".
I recall MANY pros commenting on how hard it would have been to get that perfect 'teardrop' profile.
So they just went with short quarter and 'matched it all up'.
I really appreciate the outcome, my first chop was a '36 three window. I learned on it.
    Your Merc is stunning.

In reference to the outside opening garage door, I'm going to take a guess that your garage has an overhanging roof outside and the garage door tracks hang off of that. It's a great idea and I've seen it done at several truck terminals to avoid forklift drivers damaging the tracks. As for your car, you do really nice work :).

Nope, no overhang. The tracks fold in against the front of the shop when the door is down.

The only downfall is that you can't use an electric door opener.

Wrong again. A jackshaft style opener would be the ticket here. The tracks could even be motorized so a remote could be used. These are things that were considered when it was designed. I just got it operational and started working in the shop instead of on the shop. I'm happy with my set up.
