There hasn't been much happening down here racing wise so I took the opportunity to help out a car club in Victoria that has taken over the lease of an old racing circuit and dragstrip called Wilby Park. I don't know the history of the place only that it was established when the Hume Weir racetrack was closed in 1977. Wilby had fallen into disrepair after not being used for quite a few years partly due to the local council getting tangled up in a bit of graft and corruption and letting conditions degrade. My hat is off to the AWDCC that has taken out the lease, they've got their work cut out for them. After a 4 hour drive (24th March 2023) I got there early enough to help with a bit of tidying and onto the important bench racing and bullshitting. Slept in the trailer overnight and after a low calorie breakfast it was time to setup and do test and tuning. Unfortunately the bloke with the timing equipment was delayed so our first runs were with a drop of the starter's arm so I didn't film the first 6 runs. When the timing and stage lights were up I filmed a couple but they were against late models but I'll include this one against a 351 XA Ford. I've forgotten how to put the video on so you'll have to use the link for now.
Sounds strong Pete. Looks like a cool little facility and hats off to the Albury guys for putting in some effort.
Yes Brendon, it is sounding good at the moment. Once they had the timing gear operational I ran mostly 8.8s and a 8.7 and then without doing anything different ran an 8.4. The club has big plans for refurbishment plus I had notification that West Wyalong track is still going ahead which will only be an hours drive for me. I'm sorry that Sydney ended up being a fizzer for you blokes up North. As for you Dick, what have you been up to? You've been a bit quiet as well. Still doing the parade floats?
Thank you for the kind words. I'm waiting to see how your new manifold works. Unfortunately I don't have the skill to create something like that plus these engines have only 3 intake ports.
