    Hello,
I'm going through my 37 and also installing a Columbia 2-speed. My car is lowered and has a good rake. I installed new axle seals and the Bruce's Rod Shop pinion seal. With the higher oil level for the Columbia and the addition of the pinion seal do I need to add a housing vent? Thanks in advance. Mike

Why not call Bruce’s and ask?

When I installed my Bruce’s t/tube seal, a vent was recommended

The original Ford vent was the transmission. If you’ve sealed it off from the transmission, you should add a new vent.

Any recommendations on what type of vent and the location?

I would consider boring (small dia. hole) one of the bolts that secure the axle tube to the banjo housing. Bore and tap for a compression fitting, add a copper or plastic line.

I would put the vent in the axle housing. Just like Ford did for decades after the era of banjos.

If you put it in a bolt you wouldn't have to worry about metal chips in the diff. Drill and tap the bolt clean and install, done.

I tried a bolt with a hole and oiled the underside of my car, as well as the people behind me. I think you need a connecting hose if you go that route.
