Usualy happens in repeated low speed low mileage runs. Take it out for a good thrashing and it will clear its self.

I think the recent question has to do with the stuff used for diesel automobiles and pickups for emissions.

Changed to Delvac after using Rotella T4.
Engine is much happier running this. Less smoky too. They're both the same weight, but somehow they don't seem to be.
Stops all the sludge building up, too- fewer worries of the crank oil ways becoming blocked up.
Only problem I've had so far is it needs changing more often because it gets dirty so quickly. Mine is a dirty old engine compared to many; it needs as much help as it can get.

Hey there! No worries about bumping the thread, I feel you, man. My pops is the same way. He thinks he can fix everything himself, even though he's never done it before. It's frustrating, but we gotta love them. As for the DPF filter, I totally get why you're concerned. That's not something you want to mess around with. Have you tried telling him about the dpf filter cleaning service? It might be a good compromise. He can still save some money by doing it himself, but with a little professional help. Plus, they'll know what they're doing and get it done right. I know it can be tough to convince our parents to do anything, but it's worth a shot. Maybe you could even offer to go with him to the service. That way, you can both learn something new and he won't feel like he's wasting money. By the way, I'm new here too. Nice to meet you!
