would someone please repost the link to motor trend archive of hot rod mag --it was/is a free library of every issue-thanks in advance!--pat
MOTORTREND+ sucks balls!! Why these issues can't be viewed by enthusiasts outside Nth America is a joke, there is no need to geoblock the archive. Video content yeah they've sold rights to broadcasters in different regions but what is the point in geoblocking the archive????
I'm in Canada and when I try to access the archives I am told to create a "free" account. Is this normal, or is it just the beginning of a bunch of nonsense trying to harvest information about me and then denying free access?
That is cool that the old magazine content is available like that. But in away it sucks because so many of the original, real, magazines of the past are just being thrown out...I'm talking about old collections....yes the old magazines do take up space but still there's nothing like flipping through the old pages and that smell of old print . I think I will go flip through some now , just because I can, I have a large collection of Hot Rod and most all the other big name magazines ranging from around 1952 to 2000
Back around 2010, they rolled a 30-foot dumpster outside the old McMullen Publishing building (Source Interlink Publishing technically) in Placentia and instructed everybody to toss their archive and back issues in the dumpster. We were moving buildings (to Irvine) and the company didn't care to maintain the archives nor the space it would require. Seeing that dumpster outside the office everyday was a real bummer and quite foreboding for the future...
I'm glad they're doing it! It makes it available to the masses and for free. Now you don't have to scour ebay for certain copies to read about a specific car or article. It would be nice to see this across the board with all the other old car mags. I still love paper! But given the choice of nothing or online I'll take whatever I can get. .
