Looking for some input. I have the doors gaped @3/16". I'm now to the Trunk Lid. It is tight all the way around. Tight as in 3/32". The bottom of the trunk lid is tighter than 3/32" What would you cut? The body or the trunk lid?
    Thanks in advance.

  2. If it opens and closes without a problem, just leave it as is.

I wouldn't cut anything, but if ocd is getting the better of you, I would run a file on the deck lid first. By the time you cut enough to make a difference, you're gonna weaken the deck lid to the point that it'll crack along the seam, and to run a cut off wheel around the perimeter of the body is just craziness. Are you competing for the riddler award with this car? Or building a hotrod?

Anybody with a micrometric eyeball good enough to see a 32nd of an inch gap at 10 feet is looking too hard. Now, if there was an obvious overlap, then you would have a problem. Take what you have and be happy.

Hi Keith, I could live with that, but if I were to cut anything, I think I would do the trunk lid. Bill

If your vision is bad enough, then 1/8" ain't nothing. I just don't turn on the bright lights in my garage anymore. Makes my stuff look good.

And box the frame! That's tight, not too tight, just snug. I had a buddy gap his car tight tight, some energetic driving miles later the door jambs bore witness to the amount a car can shimmy about due to frame flex and lack of rigidity.

Thanks to everyone. I’m going to do what Lloyd suggested. The frame is boxed. At least it is a trunk and not a rumble seat.

    Thanks everyone!
