Caddy's are cool in customs unless they are Chevrolet's. Chevrolet's must have Chevrolet motors.
    I think Hemi's are overdone.

what is the least cool? small block Ford. I like SBF's in the cars that came with them. that's it though.

Has to be the Chrysler hemi. But the flathead looks way cool. And can be a dependable driver. And the Ford y-block looks and sound way cool. It has looks of great potential for dependable street hp.

As for the sbc and sbf. Generally chosen as the cheapest functional option. The same mind set why people buy a little Toyota or Hyundai. And no more interesting.

Would of been cool to fit the blower to a 348 or 409.

    Hello,
Is this not a 1958 chevy Impala that has been totally customized and creative enough to use items from the factory, like a 348 standard block and accessories? Total custom is the word and build on this immaculate Impala. In person, it glows like a diamond. In car shows, it is/was pretty outstanding, but nothing took away the feeling of being up close and personal in a large garage, viewing it in So Cal.

Our 1958 black Impala was rather cool. It was a stock configuration Impala with factory 348 specs. It ran from 1957 fall to 1965 fall with variations of adding speed parts as time moved forward. (At the drags and cruising all over So Cal streets...) ending up with Buick Skylark Wire Wheels and a C&O Stick Hydro, plus a Racer Brown cam and kit in the 348 motor.

But, it paled compared to the customized 348 version motor on Mox Miller's custom Impala. At the time, supercharged sedans were rare as carburetors, chromed or not were pretty flashy. But, this was the only one in a cool custom 1958 Impala.

NOTE: In the 57-60 time period in So Cal or anywhere, there were very few 409 motors available for drag racing. One of the top racers in the Gas Coupe and Sedan Cl***es had bored and stroked a 348 Chevy motor and with the heavy sedan, ruled the C/Gas cl***es during this time period. (with a "409" c.i motor)

NOTE 2: That Chevy Impala was our final opponent in the last race for us in our 671 powered SBC Willys Coupe in C/Gas. My brother was 2 car lengths in front at the finish line.

This one always gets more attention than the 427 SBF in my 40. IMG_3401.JPG IMG_3872.JPG IMG_3875.JPG

A few of my favorite engine configurations.
In my opinion, they are all very cool!
These are just a few, that I was able to photograph over the years.
