I like the idea of you using a cable for shifting. Can you show a picture of how it is attached to the column under the hood?

This isn't a very good shot. I'll try to remember to get a better one tomorrow. Where the end of the lever going up and to the left get cut off in the picture is where the cable connects, you can just see the edge of the black bushing where the cable attaches. IMG_20220722_151248.jpg

This should give you a better idea how the cable runs up to the steering column.

Thank you very much for the pictures. That was a big help. I like what you have done. Was that an over the counter cable or a custom made?

Nascardave I can't take credit for the setup, the motor and trans had been swapped when I bought the car. I do think it is over the counter. I have seen the cable bracket that bolts to the trans and holds the cable on a website, I think it was a BM product.

Wow I didn't realize it has been so long since I did anything post worthy.
My rear end has made noise since I bought it. I thought about the ranger rear end but decided to check out mine. I pulled the axles and the differential. I decided to replace all the bearings and run it a while longer. Below is a list of the parts used, followed by a few pictures. I hope this will help someone.

Pinion Seal - 8A-4676 Shoebox Central
Pinion bearing - Timken 02876 cup Timken 02820

Yes it is quiet and now I'm not afraid to expand my driving radius.
