Hello, My wife and I lived in Laguna Beach for 6 years. This intersection gives locals and visitors the worse nightmare in driving anywhere on this 10+ mile coastline. It is the biggest jam up intersection along the whole Coast Highway drive from the Northern coastline down to San Diego. So, for the locals, it was very early in the morning and it was a fast two lane highway or late at night when most are asleep, and/or the tourists are not visiting the popular beach city. During the daylight hours, it is actually considered a mess. But, as anyone can see, some of the original buildings are still here. They have been refurbished and the Hotel Laguna still has the same outstide structure, but has several makeovers throughout the years. Several businesses have come and gone on the arched buildings on the beach side. The corner is famous for having the city’s official greeter, Eiler Larsen. On our long southerly surf trips in the early 60s, we used to see him standing on the corner, waving to anyone in a car. He did that until the city officially named him Laguna Beach’s official greeter in 1963. Consequently, there is a now a restaurant with ocean views and being steps away from the sand/water. Yes, it is called the Greeter’s Corner Restaurant. Jnaki Out of sheer luck, my wife and I recently drove South on Coast Highway from Newport Beach to Dana Point Harbor just last week. For some unknown reason other than it being around 11 a.m. our drive South was actually pleasant. Ha!!! It was called a two-brake pedal drive for the almost 6 miles of coastal highway driving. We only had to step on the brake two times. That is a rare experience…YRMV FOREST AVE PCH STORY ON HAMB : https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...one-by-part-2.1154030/page-3125#post-14819589
